Is that a vehicle park exclusively for motorhomes /caravans?

You couldn't have picked a  better week.......... assuming you don't mind the heat.

It probably is exclusively to motorhomes, the French understand that we have cash to spend, so we are welcome in a lots of towns, and beach resorts.

It's hotter further south, 37 predicted for here today.

Yes it is an aire specifically for motorhomes. This is a big commercial one. Off to a smaller quieter one by the coast tomorrow.

Pretty much every town or village has an aire.

This one is expensive at €14 a night with services. The first one we used was free with service point.

My lad moved to the Murcia area of Southern Spain a couple of weeks ago. Says it’s hot, very hot. The Dachshund (Boris) is suffering but surviving. Very very windy yesterday.

Syd is fine so far. Managing to keep him cool.

Havent been to Honfleur for many years in fact it was probably the first time we went to France with the kids in 1985.

Lovely spot and we have sat in or very close to that spot by the harbour.

Depends what you want to see and where you want to be.

At €14 a night it hardly breaks the bank!

And yet some posters complain about being asked to pay about half this to moor in the basin at Llangollen... 😉

Remember tying up alongside the harbour wall in the first photo in about 1970. Bet you couldn't do it today.

Enjoy your trip.

I didn't suggest it would .

the smaller quieter one sounds better even if its greater cost

The smaller quieter free one will be in a quieter village with not so much going on.

Its a proper tourist trap here and not that far from the tunnel so a very popular first stopover for lots of people.

Beer in the square was €9 for 500ml.

Yes, my lasting memory from 1985 was a very very expensive coffee...

Nice to sit and watch the world go by though 😃

Looking forward to a day on the beach today. Think Syd will appreciate a swim as well.

Must deal with the tanks on the way out of here though. After four days we are low on water now!

I assumed  the  services at the aires include water  but clearly not.

There is a service point, well two actually here, with driveover grey waste drain, toilet drain and two taps, one drinking water and one non drinking water.

It's not like a serviced campsite pitch where each pitch has a drain and tap.

There are some electric points at this one but not enough for every van and they are only 6 amp anyway so not much use. We are not bothered about that though. It's more hassle getting the cable out of the gas locker!

The bread van has just been round. He is very popular. He sold out very quickly.

What's the weather forecast for where you are today?

32 degrees.

A cool dip in the sea required I think later.

Getting off the Honfleur aire was interesting this morning. The service point was super busy not helped by very slow taps but also the exit barrier was playing up which led to a long queue of vans waiting to get out and some frayed tempers from one or two van owners.

We just sat back and watched and let themselves sort themselves out. Eventually a very patient French man took over the ticket barrier and got the queue moving along.

We are now at the supermarket stocking up for a few days. Our friends are still in the queue for the service point so we will wait here for them and get showered and give the inside of the van a quick wipe around.

Staying at farms/vineyards looks interesting.

Looks like they are free and you just help support the farmer  by buying produce which is fair enough.

Much the same as the Brit Stop scheme in the UK really.

We often use those.

Just visited the Brit Stop web site. You have to buy their guide first. £30+. A bit of a disappointment to me.

How else would you know where all the sites are? France Passion is the same, and by using it 2/3 times in a year  you are beginning to save money over paying for a campsite.

Without it we would never have found places to stop on, for example, a vineyard 1000 metres up a mountain in the Jura.

It's money very well spent over here, no idea about your side of the Manche.
