Hello,

I am new here and I am delighted to have found you.

I bought a Carver cruiser in a bipolar mania moment. The toilet is a 12 vetus toilet series. The actual macerator is caked in limescale I was told to buy a whole new toilet by the guy who came to fix it .  I cant aford that as the toilet is supposed to be a new one so ive been told by previous owner and has only had  about .100 flushes. We disasembled the whole toilet and found the macerator to be caked with limescale Is it possible to clean lime scale?

I really appreciate any advise as its casing me sleepless nights.

You will find that people selling boats are often not above telling the odd lie or two. If that's the worse thing you find on your new boat you'll be doing well.

Welcome to the world of boating and good luck.

If you have the thing apart then I would try a domestic lime scale remover or white vinegar. It will probably need scrubbing, as whatever you use gradually dissolves the scale. The problem, as I understand it, is that the scale could be uric acid and if so it will need an alkaline like bicarbonate of soda.

You can use domestic water with a Lavac if you arrange a small tank with a float switch and solenoid valve and draw the flush water from that. This breaks the connection between flush water and domestic supply

I put a Lavac in a boat used for several yars as residence for 4 people with this arrangement. Very good lavatory and the flush tank worked faultlessly.

Quite a simple setup it was.
