Another boat fire, Pendeford, Nr Wolverhampton, man and dog have died

Oh dear. 

 

 

A canal boat blaze has seen firefighters and police descend on Pendeford. Emergency services were called to the fire on Wobaston Road at 2.46am today (February 24)Drivers have been urged to avoid the area while the fire is dealt with. Pendeford Mill Lane has been closed in the direction of Bilbrook.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service tweeted saying: "#NEWS: We are currently attending a canal boat fire in #SouthStaffordshire. We were called at 2.46am to Wobaston Road, off Pendeford Mill Lane, #Pendeford.

Terrible news indeed. Remains look like a GRP cruiser, bow sticking out with stern gone so may have involved petrol.

Horrible. I think someone got the fire going too hard. Paint is burnt off the chimney. Probably burnt lots of wood and got a chimney fire which took out the whole boat. 

 

Very sad. RIP.

Sadly not the only recent death around the Shroppie in Pendeford, this was last year .
