And here's another photo from 2018, discussions about the new hospital in the background.  The Chief Executive (far right) and Andy Street (far left) were already aware of the potential benefits of having a canal on the hospital site!

Railway Bridge, the first bridge above Ickles lock, where we spent the night in the Sheffield Flood in 2007

For the unfolding story of the flood, see #2053 #2059 #2067 #2069 #2073 #2076 #2078 #2080 #2082 #2084 #2086 #2128 #2183 #2268 #2422 #2588  #2674 (all 2007)

The name is accurate, in the sense of it carring a railway over the canal: the point of spending money creating signs for each bridge is that stranded navigators can telephone for assistance at the location of the nearest bridge. Sadly there are at least three bridges with this same name on the S&SYN.

They seemed to fail one by one over a period of time. Is it really beyond the wit of whoever installed them to check and replace the bulbs?

Maybe CRT volunteers could be tasked with checking it out. Often thought of stopping the boat and getting a soft broom and giving them a clean up.

Anyone know it they were coloured lamp or coloured reflectors. Is there still power to the units. An easy job for someone perhaps.

Nice idea.

I assume that the "soft broom" is the sound which your modern engine makes.
