This day in 2016, and another happy Mayor, this time in Skipton.Lots of people came out specifically to see Kennet pass, as here near Kildwick, with the next picture of Kennet climbing the locks at Bank Newton, with Ribble in the distance. The last pic is of Ribble passing 'my' lock, the third one up at Bank Newton.

This day 2016, and another Mayor with the  Kennet brew, this time from Pendle; it was the canal's 200th anniversary; schoolchildren helping at Greenberfield; Alan thinks Christmas has come, there are so many people to talk to.

More on Kennet's trip. After bright sunshine at Greenberfield, the descent of Barrowford was in torrential rail, which had eased off by the time Burnley was reached.

HS2 preparations above Wood End Lock, Fradley.

I'm not sure if that fits the topic heading "What is nice on the waterways"! But we don't have a separate thread for "bloody disasters on the waterways".

Such photos leave me in two minds. Firstly, I think, what a shame that such an imposing building is lying disused. Then it occurs to me, thank goodness it's disused, as the hands had to work in cramped, insanitary and dangerous conditions.
