  1. How about Bridge Boatyard or Black Prince based at Ely on the River Great Ouse. Other than Ely itself I very much doubt you will find anywhere much quieter!

    Boat Move

Nice one Graham -glad you are sorted now. (We spoke yesterday)
  3. Well if it doesnt stop raining the Nene isnt going to come off SSA for long enough for anyone to turn there anyhow..?
  4. Could maybe be a later Dolphin-as in later than the plywood ones they used to make (but not the Dolphins made by Richard Allen which are completely different make.)
  5. Thats been ongoing for a while- I had to look at a boats toilet system and clarify that it did discharge into holding tanks many months ago. I am not sure about the 'illegal' bit though as sea toilets are allowed on the River Great Ouse. Certainly I agree it is not a very good idea for many static boats to be discharging into a marina though. I had no idea about the composting loo's though.Interesting as I fitted one a while ago- surely they can only insist you dispose of waste elsewhere?
  6. Did you get any help in the end Nick? I was really lucky as I travelled from Castleford to Manchester with a fantastic couple - did find the Rochdale quite hard work with gates that wouldnt open and empty pounds on the way up and overflowing ones on the way down!

    Horbury

Certainly is quite a lump there-was a bit of surprise mid channel. Came to a rather abrupt halt on it a few days ago.
  8. Lifted red at Castleford at about 10.30 this morning-had a good easy run to Dewbury. Apart from bit of a job getting through Thornes flood lock-together with the other 5 boats stuck either side got through OK in the end. Passed this chap on the way through...
  9. Well I hope Im not still here in two weeks On Plan B now -cant see me getting up Trent /Soar anytime soon so hoping to head towards you and travel down towards T& M instead . Your prediction is very encouraging. Plan C is when I give up
  10. As ST says. Spoke to a few round here- Its still high -the landing stages are all under and other boater (maybe ST even! ) told me need to lose another four foot yet. CRT chap reckons by weekend if... You are on the wet end Im right next to Bullhome lock where the towpath is higher and have a gap in the hedge so satellite works!
  11. Any better up your way yet NB Esk ? Dropped overnight here an amazing amount and lock has come off red and onto flashing red. Pic below of yesterday afternoon and just now- hell of a drop but flows still a bit lively.
  12. Thanks Mac. I knew someone would know on here-I shall pass that onto the chap two boats down from me too as he was interested as well..
  13. Yep. Isnt mine though Looks like a Sheffieldish type boat- from what I could see of the bows. Obviously been there along time-love to know how it ended up there. Would guess it broke free and went over the weir and was something to do with delivering to the Allissons Mill perhaps?
  14. Bit further down but alot of water has arrived at Castleford since last night. Main Road going out is still shut at the moment. Pic of last night and this morning.Glad Im only next to it (inbetween the flood locks) and not on it!
  15. Just trying to help with what the OP asked. Wests is marvellous stuff-I applied a patch to a 30 psi calorifier as a last emergency attempt to repair a leaking calorifier. It was in daily use and lasted six years so may or may not be helpful to the OP.
  16. I repaired/ bodged a leaking calorifier with wests epoxy and mat after two unsuccessful attempts to resolder it. Its expensive stuff but I had it anyway. Lasted for six years continuos use and was still not leaking when I replaced it a couple of years ago. Rough up a generous area of bare copper with some 60 grit before bunging it all on.
  17. Cheers for the pics Matty40. You keep taking them and we'll all know what to avoid
  18. Good luck to em. Soar going into red definetly doesnt count as a goal :-D
  19. River Soar just gone into reds..
  20. Think you'll be lucky if it clears in a week at least on the Ouse. Had alot of rain- it will be a couple of days before it comes down from Milton Keynes and then a good few more to drain it all away. But you never know..
  21. Good to see pic of you out Chop. Guessing all is well if youre planning to get out again.. Catch up soon hopefully
  22. I was planning on coming up the Trent/ Soar next week too so shall watch this thread with interest. Thanks for the info chaps
  23. As Jen says. I have run a small fridge off a 500 watt inverter before but it trips it out sometimes on start up and I dont think the inverter would last for long doing so. Have fitted these before with no problems (as far as Im aware) if you want to risk cheaper and the 1200 watt is on special at the moment- https://www.sunshinesolar.co.uk/prodshow/1200W___12V_Pure_Sine_Wave_Sunshine_Power_Inverter/VP1200.html
  24. Not sure where you are at the moment but you could use the Northampton flight ? Some pounds that get a bit low overnight . And River Nenes on Reds and even if it wasnt there are still stoppages so should be quiet there..
