  1. A couple of pictures of a spare rivet I have just found in the "New Hudson" sales brochure.
  2. I would moor near a bridge so that the Fire service has easy access, In my opinion plastic boats and solid fuel stoves do not go together. I have done many disposals because of such fires.
  3. The Rayburn No 4 I had had about 8 pieces of glass fixed in the front door, all held in place with a "U" piece of fire resistant material top and bottom.nice and tight when new ones fitted but rattled after 6 months.
  4. When i was a lad, my dad used to shove light newspaper up the chimney, he said it was to warm the flue and burn of any soot.

  12. Seen the boat today in question, someone is worrying for not much reason, just get on board and get on with it. It is not a new boat, it will give you much to fiddle with in the coming winter months.
  13. The boats were rolled over the side of the Wendover Arm behind the lockhouse three locks down.
  14. I have a Mikuni, it is silent from the outside, starts first time, can be started by phone from home, cheap to run. Installed properly with correct pipe sizing and cables. Can be viewed any time by any one.
  15. Probably the Bendix Compact, had one for twenty years, cold water fill, but served me well.

Was at a local marina a few weeks ago when Custom & Excise turned up, they took a sample from the pump split it three ways into identical small cans, labeled and sealed them, asked the owner to pick one for him to keep. They then analysed one in the back of their van, put one in a sealed box and left. They were checking the fuel that had been supplied by the distributor.

  20. I have to disagree, my stern gear is 37years old, it has never been repacked, nuts are nipped up so i can roll the shaft with my foot, I use grease on a regular basis, morning, noon and night. I have only had about two pints "of drips" through the packing in all that time. It is open to inspection at any time, i'm at Alvecote at the moment, Park head next weekend.
  21. ELSAN BLUE it was what it was invented for, nearly 90 years ago. Nothing beats it, forget all the "modern speak", go for a product that does what it says on the bottle.
  22. DO NOT get a mobiles LPG heater to use in the boat or use the hob for space heating, you WILL KILL yourself.
