  1. £10 to £20K? You are having a laugh, a bare hull without engine or anything will cost you £25K. A wide boat that size WHICH IS LEGAL TO HAVE ON A CANAL will cost you £100K even if you fit every screw and nail. No matter what you build on a steel hull it will have to be capable of moving and fit bridges etc because you are going to have to take it out of the water regularly for bottom blacking. Have you costed a permanent mooring in a marina? You will have a fit! Have you thought about power, energy, fuel, TOILET !? Go rent a flat. It will be cheaper, easier and you will keep your sanity.
  2. I don't even know what mine is. 1800 W Pure sine. Will run a 2kW fan heater for a while. Its at least 15 years old, buried behind the control panel. Came from a firm called G&S, think they are gone. Wasn't expensive, memory gone too. Never gone wrong, draws very little in standby but I have to have a light on when using the washer, Zanussi, KCW 1300, else it keeps restarting the final spin cycle because it goes into standby while its pumping out.
  3. No, there is a woman in charge, its 10:27 am here.
  4. Go to bed Mike, its too late, you are getting personal. Please order some good weather for early next month, we will be in the UK.
  5. It was such a small bit that it was almost infinitesimal. Wayne and Kylie surely. No room now 'cos of dashcams. Simple, you were supposed to have the tiger in the tank! That's why its not Tony, the petrol would soften your Frosties. Delight this year, I can buy Kelloggs Frosties in the Philippines.
  6. Don't connect without the fuse. REPEAT Don't connect without the fuse. Expect to have to replace your isolator switch quite soon if its the crappy one with a detachable red key, they don't like the current up 'em.
  7. Benefit of doubt given, only joshing. The fitting you need is 1/8" BSP Male thread to either 8mm or 5/16" compression, they are the same size give or take a thou or two and will interchange. What you had and SOmebody bust was 1/8"BSP to 8mm push fit which uses a grab ring instead of an olive, which compression fittings use. Instantly interchangeable.
  8. Never said it does. Of course its the heater that takes a lot of current, we all know that, but the motor has to start and run at the same time in the wash program. I'm surprised if the max rating of the washer is only 1500 W.
  9. A deep draughted boat usually stops in the bridges, the flow is always high to feed Hurleston reservoir for Crewe and Nantwich. Wait till you try to stop going back down!
  10. We had the real bullet holes................................... Manchester in the '70s.
  11. That washer only 1500 Watts? Remember that motors take more whilst starting, 1800 Watts may be better. Sterling gear is not rubbish and they are well known and accountable.
  12. Sounds like a coach and horses being driven through CRT's CC mooring conditions. It will end in tears.
  13. The only thing I would be concerned about sleeping under a tug deck is what do you do if you are ill, poorly, sick? Can't see a doctor crawling in there or the paramedics sliding you out. How many times do you bang your head before you sell it? Not for a restless sleeper.
  14. No, different tiger. the Esso one lived in a tank with his tail hanging out, never had a name. Tony is a games player, I won't discuss his sexual proclivity.
  15. Not seen a Mod on here for weeks, you scared them off. Never had you down as being a sensitive old boiler fixer, well, well. With all those minor burns over the years you should be more thick skinned. Welcome back,----------Behave!
  16. Ah, so. Now we know whodunit! No, it was the last RCR fitter what stood on it Mister, not me!
  17. Couldn't stay away then Mike? Knew a boiler question would drag you back. Looks like you have another fitting for free job coming up.
  18. You may not understand it until you claim, then the loss adjuster will explain it to you as he pares down your claim. I think the government's policy of self insuring, paying no premiums, has a lot to recommend it. Unfortunately the capital deposit required to do this makes it very difficult and I doubt if CRT or your boat insurer would understand!
  19. If your BMC takes an hour to produce enough hot water for a shower, either you are wasting water or your thermostat in the engine is duff or missing. Mine takes about 20 minutes. Engine needs to be a bit over tickover, its never good to run too slow for too long.
  20. There is no insert in the pipe where it was in a push fit fitting previously, it looks like nylon pipe and it will be fine with a compression fitting with an olive. Done loads OK.
  21. But hasn't every gas locker a hole filled with a bulkhead gas fitting? When is a hole not a hole? When you can't see through it!
  22. A brass compression 8mm to whatever the thread is will do the job from any chandlery And won't break as easily next time the big footed oaf goes down there.
  23. I have a question, Why? Boat break-ins are not so frequent and unless you moor in terrible areas, rare.
  24. Its often the air hole at the base of the jet assembly that gets fluffed up resulting in a small flame which fails to heat the thermocouple properly. It won't work if the knob is held in, don't be daft enough to try over-riding safety devices.
  25. Whoa! 15 psi is way way too much, you have blown the grease out. 15 INCHES on a water gauge is the test pressure.
