Years ago I drove one of those as part of a military vehicle driving experience. The instructor (in overalls) told me (in jeans & T shirt) to drive into a lake, the water came up over the windscreen and straight in through the open hatches above my head. I was covered in manky slime, he thought it hilarious, my misses was not to pleased as by the time we drove home I was getting a bit fragrant. Great fun but it was her fault for booking me on it in the 1st place though.

Can't make any specific recommendations as I'm not in the South west, but it might be worth trying some of the seagoing sailmaker type outlets. We had our deck canopy made by a local sail company and they did a super job (including the framing etc). They came along, made brown paper templates, took measurements, and two weeks later came back and fitted the lot.

Last summer I had the unfortunate experience of seeing a swan drowning a cygnet. There were 5 cygnets and both parents. One of the cygnets appeared to be swimming lower in the water than the others but I took no notice as they had been hanging about for a couple of weeks. Then the male attacked the low swimming cygnet and held it under. The parents and the remaining young then swam off as if nothing had happened. I fished the dead body out and disposed of it in a nearby field. Could have been something wrong with it or it might have been the result of an earlier attack, who knows. Quite upsetting to see but that is nature I suppose.

Looking at the photos I would say that is a shed of the highest order and would not consider purchase even at £5k. Not pretty, not quality, looks like a horrible mashup of bits over the years. There has to be something better to buy out there, keep looking.

I still think a small wooden or rubber wedge is the easiest solution. Why make things harder? Making one should take all of 5 minutes.

Could you not make a fold out dog step? Leave down most of the time so when doggie wants to get up and down he can. Flip up when you want to pass and drop back down again after.

Not at all, if he had been polite I would have happily moved up (I'm an angler myself), his attitude was the deciding factor. I'm not normally that confrontational, he just pissed me off, What makes you think I'm trying to impress? I just related another fishing/boating incident, yes I did get a sense of satisfaction, If that is impressive so be it.

Last year I was moored up on the towpath. About 7:30 in the morning there was a knock on the boat. Opened the hatch and poked my head out, a fisherman laden with kit (barrow, more rods than the local tackle shop) says, when are you moving?, No please, how are you or any nicety whatsoever, Why? I enquire, because I usually fish here he says. I told him what I thought of his rudeness and he grumbled and moved about 10 feet from the back of the boat and began to set up his gear. I waited until he had set all his stuff up (about an hour), then started the engine, he looked over and by the look on his face thought I was about to move. He was wrong, I was testing my gearbox , I tested it every half hour until about 10 ish, When I came out for the 10:30 test he had gone. Had a coffee and then moved off, Ho Hum, was I a bit norty running in gear whilst moored?

If something electrical fails it may well stress other parts of the circuit which although working when tested may fail at a later date. I would always prefer a completely new set of components rather than a repair. It may well be that a repair will be sufficient but then again it may not.

If its brand new I'd want a replacement not a repair.

If Sterling state its generator friendly I be straight on the blower tomorrow. I'd still take a peek inside though (providing it has not got some sort of anti tamper label on it).

I think I would be looking at the genny as a possible culprit. Might not be outputting what the sterling is expecting as input (if its a cheapo Chinese specimen 230v at 50Hz is probably quite unlikely). Although I would expect a charger to be capable of consuming what it is given within reason. When you say a "little smoke" it could be an internal fuse has popped. I'd be tempted to open it up and see what looks blackened. Anything other than an internal fuse and its likely a send back job.

I think that means they are roughly 75% charged.

Same advice with anchors. We use the small fold up grapple type anchors for mooring (just check them in a bush or long grass), held onto rope whilst chucking, wrong bit of rope
