  1. Try Lockgate Stoves - if they can't help, they may know who can. Ring them, the lady who normally answers is always helpful.
  2. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  3. I have no technical knowledge at all on this subject, but we have had for 3 years a Huawei B535 and it works fine with an external Poynting aerial. eta - Have you tried moving the router outside to see if that works? I know that won't work long term but it could be another indicator
  4. Our council has a system where, for large or heavy items, you need to call, pay a fee, leave the items at the edge of your property and they will collect when convenient - normally within a week or so. That means it can look a bit 'abandoned ' outside a house at times.
  5. Saw it this morning in Milton Keynes (moored) - quite liked the look of it
  6. I'd take one as a free sample to test if it lasted!😁
  7. An empty food tin (with the top cut off with an opener that does not leave a sharp edge) kept within reach and I leave the rest to your imagination. Another benefit of a trad stern - stand in the hatch with the doors shut behind you.
  8. Are you saying Capricorn is for sale?
  9. How big is the access hole? Can you fit a suitable plastic container / containers in there? Fill them with diesel, fit cap tight, then fill remaining area with diesel as normal. That way you retain the 'normal size' tank for when you sell on.
  10. I found out about pulse dialling when I was about 10 - had a kidney problem that left me bedbound for many weeks. Lived in a big pub then and there was payphone down in the pub, and an extension upstairs with no dial so incoming calls could be received in the private quarters. I had a bed moved into the lounge and the phone was next to my bed - if I needed attention I rattled the phone rest and it tinkled downstairs on the main phone. The pub must have been busy because my rattling was ignored and without knowing, I dialled 999! Obviously when a strange voice asked what service I required I put the phone down quick - however it wasn't long before the old bill turned up. I've no doubt that cost my old man a few pints.
  11. Have had dogs or been involved with them on a daily basis for most of my life - haven't got one now as not fair on the dog at my age - they were all special but the two that were more special were the malinois my old man had and the black lab I had from a puppy - that one kept me on my toes for 15 years! Worked hard on the training for the first year (repetition, repetition, repetition) then had a superb companion for the next 14 years.
  12. Call C&RT, tell them he is getting stuck, don't volunteer the info about recent welding on the phone but do discuss it if they turn up to assist.
  13. I'm sure I remember my sister-in-law telling me that when they lived in Germany they were not allowed to cut the grass on a Sunday!
  14. The only things wrong with that sign are the words 'don't ' and 'or' - delete them and it would be perfect.
  15. If it's not contravening the T's & C's wind your neck in and let people be as childish as they like. Use the ignore button if you wish, it's easy enough.
  16. For a minute there I thought you'd sank your boat!
  17. Some years ago a so-called 'friend' was telling me they were hard up and couldn't afford to rent a tv. We had an old spare one so I gave it to him to help out. A couple of weeks later I ran into his wife who took great delight in telling me that she had put my old tv on a coffee table, gave it a good kick and it fell off smashing the screen. Claimed on their insurance and got a new one. It's assholes like that who put up the premiums for the rest of us.
  18. You mention checking all the usual things, temp, humidity etc but I recall reading that the 'dew point' was an important one to check.
  19. ^^^^ Thank you, good information.
  20. When you talk to 'bespoke' boat builders, some are more bespoke than others - some will try and convince you that they would rather build you the boat they want to build, rather than the one you want built. On the other hand, most of them do know what works and what doesn't so it's all a bit of a balancing act. Do talk to as many owners as possible to find out their experiences on what worked, what didn't and how was their relationship with their builder (are they still talking?!). Walk the towpath and talk to owners of newish boats.

    K2 Problems

I've bought and fitted one of these - the boat gets visited during the winter (wish we still did winter cruises!) every two or three weeks and sometimes the engine started, so this means I don't have to remember to take the cap off or remember to put it back on. And no way will it blow off so no worries about that. Come spring it will come off and the tin back on. They do sizes from about 2" to 4" in small increments so should get one to fit. And (I think) cheap. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115255121963?chn=ps&_ul=GB&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=710-134428-41853-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=115255121963&targetid=2361039923645&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9046201&poi=&campaignid=21697381820&mkgroupid=170109506289&rlsatarget=pla-2361039923645&abcId=10027101&merchantid=113155889&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA4rK8BhD7ARIsAFe5LXK9aQEg6KC6xCXnf594x1xruVCXaZ6SYegD24STXZxyjwMRtjCZfK8aAq6mEALw_wcB
  22. I know the op said 'gunwales' but do you mean the vertical section from the top rubbing strake up to the edge you walk on?
  23. I guess that's true, which is why newspapers rarely let the truth get in the way of a good story.
