  1. If it’s a short pound with one or two locks above and then one long pound, I would always do it myself.
  2. Then please remove it and start a new one, without any of the bickering.
  3. Out of respect to the family involved, can a moderator now delete this thread. It is going round in circles and serves no real purpose.
  4. We met Nick & Jeff in Liverpool in July, then also went up the Ouse but we got to Selby in September. The Azolla had virtually gone by then. Our plan had been to get up there later, not to avoid the weed, but to make mooring in York easier.
  5. From the listing: “Engine has water leak which is easily repairable.“ So why not repair it before selling it?
  6. We bought a gym equipment protection mat similar to this one. Easily cut to size with scissors, easy to roll up and store. Also it doesn’t raise the the seat too much as our are already at a suitable height. Ours are now 5 years old and still work well. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07BQZWPYV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_kGUhEbPH074D2
  7. One of the few mistakes made by our boat fitter. Easily sorted by one a Joseph Joseph drainer.
  8. Err?......... No, it was a photo
  9. I had looked at the donation page a few days ago. There were no details there as to the cost of running the forum, so this report has come at a good time. I will go on now and make an annual donation.
  10. NB Valhalla was on the Nottingham & Beeston canal a few weeks back. Still in matt black, I remember her well from Stockton Top.
  11. Cruising in the dark has a mystical feeling. This was early this morning, no-one around, nothing else moving as I set off at 06.00. Wendy (full of cold) was sleeping, so I left early to catch up lost ground. Please do post your photos, mine was just snapped on my iPhone as didn’t have my good camera aboard.
  12. No. There’s way too much Coo around. We don’t need to speed up climate change with any more!!
  13. You say CO, ALAN says Co, lets’s call the whole thing off.
  14. Thank you, I’ve set it to record. It’s on Freesat Ch160.

    Flooding

We are finally off the rivers. 12 weeks behind schedule and happy to be on the T&M. Beeston to Cranfleet took 1hr 10mins with a strong flow against us. There was 200m or so of the “gut” which was very slow going but otherwise made swift progress.

    Flooding

By 15.00 yesterday it was just on green, though rather difficult to see as it was fairly grubby and weed covered. 2” of green showing this morning. We had a drive up to Cranfleet at 09.30, it was 1” into amber still. The flow in the gut looked rather quick, so we will wait tomorrrow when the levels are due to drop again.

    Flooding

That’s what I thought. The flow at that point at lunchtime today was around 3mph. That’s based on a highly technical measuring system. I used an average speed app on my phone while walking next to a floating piece of wood!!

    Flooding

Cranfleet flood lock was finally opened at lunchtime today. The river level below Cranfleet lock is 2/3 the way up amber and dropping at last. Beeston is just showing green so we will hopefully be leaving there tomorrow or Tuesday. Am I right in thinking the fastest flow is in the final 500m or so before reaching the floating pontoon.
  19. She’s got 100% positive feedback so must be a trustworthy seller. Oh wait......................... They’re all as a buyer so she’s never sold anything.
  20. Am I following this correctly? Instead of selling an imaginary boat, is this Ebay seller now listing an imaginary mooring?
  21. And what’s wrong with a Ford Transit Van? ?
  22. We used to see them fairly regularly. We will have to get in touch in the New Year and see if we can meet up.
  23. A pair of ladies knickers round our prop?? We have collected empty 5L containers from bins to fill with old engine oil. It’s a shame you’re not allowed to then recycle the oil at crt services. ♻️
  24. Our German Shepherd prefers to drink canal and puddle water over tap water. I think it’s like comparing real ale to lager. More flavour, but I will stick to tap water and/or real ale.
  25. Straight from the taps. SS tank. A bit of dirt & some bacteria might be good for me.
