  1. Except for when going through a tunnel, when I took Scorpio through Harecastle just before I went in to the tunnel Joe turned the titch pipe so the cutter was across the cabin to stop soot from the tunnel roof failing in your face.
  2. Torrential rain in Great Haywood, not weather for boating.
  3. The tall pipe helps the exhaust fumes go over your head rather than in to your face.
  4. We didn't get water in the fuel filters until moored near a lock and when the lock was operated and the levels dropped we sat on the bottom and listed quite a bit. This was enough to bring the water level in the bottom of the tank high enough to reach the fuel take off and as the engine was running because we were about to set off it sucked quite a bit of water through the system given a cloud of white smoke and the engine cut out. As soon as the levels came back up and the boat leveled out it wasn't an issue. We then had quite a bit of water drained out of the tank.
  5. We had a water issue with our tank but I think it possibly got in the tank when we were filling with diesel and had the end of the suppliers tank as they ran out whilst serving us, the other source may have been a locking fuel cap that was possibly leaking. As we use the boat over winter and run the Eberspacher and engine it isn't possible to keep the tank completely full.
  6. Log in to the CRT licensing site and update the information for your boat which includes the mooring location.
  7. A long pole is handy for dropping down the bottom gates when leaking very badly and preventing getting a level to open the top gate. And a short shaft for closing bottom gates when exiting a lock.

    Breaker. Breaker 1, 4 for a copy.
  9. We don't generally close a bridge if another boat is approaching, we wait and let them through and then close the bridge.
  10. Nothing worse than the mil watching you fix their PC, iPad, phone, TV, etc and then they think they can do it there self the next time something goes wrong but they make things worse. I get the same at work when someone breaks their laptop and they say they haven't done anything but eventually I get them to admit they have tried various "fixes" they got from Google, what they don't understand is the skill is knowing which result on Google will actually address the issue.
  11. It's because the end of the beam overhangs the wall so if you start pushing on the end of the beam you can walk off the edge quite easily and it is a big drop.
  12. The problem in the modern world if someone falls over they are looking to blame someone else so they can sue them, so putting a warning sign up covers CRTs ass.

Plenty of P takers at Great Haywood, mostly roving traders mooring for anything up to 3 weeks on a 48hr mooring.
  15. That is what the volocky did last year when we arrived at the top just before 5pm. Whilst we started on the top lock he walked down and opened all the reds.
  16. I remember several occasions at the Bratch where welly boots were needed as someone had got the paddle order wrong and there was a lot of water over the pathways.
  17. It's becoming a bit annoying, each time I hit View Unread Content I get the rules displayed and have to agree to them.
  18. Not always the case, our boat is listed under the shell builder not the company that fitted it out.
  19. That's how I spent a bit of time wedged in the bottom gate of one of the Walsall flight just after 10pm as I expected to get through the fully open gate but unfortunately it hit something solid and failed to open right back but I didn't have enough time to stop the boat.
  20. We had Sunday roast at the Queen's Head on the Monty, it was very good. Need to book though as it was full if wanting to go there.

  22. We've had a couple of nice meals in the Dusty Miller earlier this year and last year when we stopped in Wrenbury.
  23. One of the coffee boats was selling CBD coffees. Not smelt cannabis being smoked in our marina, occasionally get a whiff walking along the towpath.
  24. Ingesting twitter posts in to an internal system to process them internally and route to the right place via email is relatively straightforward so they could have a processing engine that looks for key words and handles accordingly.
