  1. Save yourself a grand! Fix the Ebersplutter yourself as previously mentioned. They are simple devices and there is plenty of info online... I repaired the non working webasto when we bought our boat, but have only used it a few times since. Don't really need it with the solid fuel stove as well. OK as a backup I guess...
  2. We bought our boat fitted with a diesel stove and changed over to a multi fuel burner really cheaply! Bought a fire used off eBay (loads of choice) and did the fitting myself. Pretty easy to do, reused the flue as you suggest, still the best change to the boat 4 years on, and still going strong. Cost £130 iirc... I did buy a welded steel fire though, I prefer them to cast ones...
  3. No experience with that one in particular...but have fitted a similar Alde controller to someone's caravan and it's a great bit of kit...he just texts his caravan to turn heating on, set temps of heating and hot water, and it texts him if the alarm goes off! Not cheap tho....
  4. Spot on, and not just here either.. How many times has this been done throughout history...never ends well !!
  5. Devils advocate... Maybe he felt he was being followed or felt vulnerable in some way...and knocked on an obviously inhabited boat as a form of defence / comfort..? Bit of a risky tactic tho lol... Still odd and best reported all the same though....
  6. Or, leave it permanently shut with a kettle / vase of flowers on and go to the chippy / pizza place etc....like most caravan owners do lol ???
  7. They will need servicing more often in a poor installation where the heater is cycling on / off often, which promotes coking up...
  8. We have a domestic sized oven and hob (new world)and find them much better for us than caravan type ones. Uses a bit more gas mind! I suppose it depends on boat usage, for leisure I guess it doesn't matter, but if you you aboard ........
  9. A well known organoarsenic compound..of course! Phew..thanks google.
  10. Surely too much - it would suffer terrible 'hoof spin' !! Be quick up the mountain tho' Sorry - - - - - - - -> COAT ON
  11. IMHO Thetford should have stuck to making toilets !!! I wouldnt buy a fridge or cooker by them personally ! Apologies to the OP as this was totaly unhelpful - but just had to say ! You could always make sure the burner is clear all along ( found a very dead chip in ours last time lol !!) but I suspect it's 'just the way they are !'
  12. That would be a good start! I suppose people who grew up without coal fires in their houses may not be as aware of the need for ventilation and the dangers of SF fires generally as those old gits like me who did ....
  13. Don't know specifically BUT I DO know that they are NOT mppt controllers, just pwm .. Plenty of info on YouTube. Iirc the cheapest true mppt controller is about 75 quid and is, I think, German made. Cheers Andy
  14. Can't see a bit of wee being in the same league as the industrial strength fertilizer, pesticide spray, cow wee (have you actually seen how much 1 cow pees? Quite impressive and there are literally thousands of em round here too...) and all the other pollutants (grease , oil, diesel , chip fat , plastic bottles) etc etc.... Dog poo is best moved to the underneath of a hedge where it naturally degrades, like all other animal poo does in the wild. No bags required, just a small shovel! Edit to close parentheses...
  15. Anyone taking photos through our windows would be going swimming, if not to hospital!
  16. Our travel power was already fitted when we got the boat, but I love the flexibility it gives when cruising. If a short cruise on low batteries we stick the battery charger on to assist the alternator with the bulk charge, or the immersion heater to speed up hot water production. Also runs the washing machine easily when cruising. Great for the eleccy kettle when underway too! Love it ?
  17. I ran 2 pairs of 6mm sq to my shoreline 12v fridge, 10m from the supply and it cured all my voltage drop problems! Been great since ....
  18. Internal.....single External .....double, Work for me with no tar runs down paintwork
  19. Live and let live ☺ I thought that was what boating was all about....freedom !
  20. I guess all marinas have both 'boaters' and 'floaters' ?
  21. Yes, the least you could do is give us all sone idea if you're happy or not...tcht.. Have fun. It's s great life ?

  23. I know two people who live on 30ft boats, and both of them are now looking for bigger boats...both saying they are fed up making the bed up each night..so yes, it's possible but personally I wouldn't! Andy
  24. Aye they do - that's what mine is .... uses the same Danfoss BD-35 compressor unit as the Shoreline
