  1. They look really cool - what a good idea. Thanks.
  2. Happy New Year everybody and thanks again to the mods. We haven't seen our narrowboat since October 2019☹️. Fingers crossed for.....June??
  3. We have a 58' narrowboat plus BT, new in 2015. Although we have over 50 years of experience without a BT, I'm glad we have one now. Regretfully we've unable to cruise this year, but in previous summers the BT came in handy manoeuvring in windy conditions, particularly in and out of marina moorings.
  4. I thought it was just about ok, but it was not aimed for folk like us. We haven't been out this year so it was nice to see some stuff. In fact we haven't even seen our 58' narrowboat since October last year. Our usual cruising range alternates roughly Skipton/Bath/Llangollen/Leicester and all points in between. We haven't had much of a year and hope it doesn't get worse!

  6. "Thanks very much, can we buy you a beer?" And a £20 note is offered.
  7. This applies to our home marina which is fine by us. About 4 years ago we did a check on moored boats with no licence disc displayed or with no number between Market Drayton and Stourport. There were about 40 unlicensed which we checked/confirmed on the online checker. We reported the findings to CRT for which we received an acknowledgment and a reply implying they were on the case. Two years ago we followed a similar trip and altho' we didn't make any serious notes, there did not appear much of a change. This leaves us with impression that CRT are not on the case. Regretfully we haven't been able to cruise this year but in future we won't bother about unlicensed or unnumbered boats or corresponding with CRT. They will just continue taking their cut, which we don't mind. Bit of a rant I suppose....
  8. Thank you very much BavariaOne, we enjoyed your tale and photos. Regretfully due covid we are landlocked this year so we are more than envious.

  10. Saw a bit on BBC news last night about how newsreader Hugh Edwards’ grandpa spent 3 years as a merchant seaman POW. If it were possible to get to our boat, we would fly the red duster tomorrow, but health/Covid dictates we stay landlocked :(
  11. Voted yes but we are obliged to stay shoreside for the time being, our answer was up until October last year. We were just as satisfied then as we were in 1972.
  12. 1. We're fans of Bollington Brewery ales and their brewery tap in Bollington. 2. Where is the Bosnian Arms?

  14. I'm not aware of many canalside Spoonies but we used to be fairly frequent diners, however not this year - yet. There's no VAT reduction on beer but the appalling Mr Martin made us chuckle with this short menu.
  15. Many thanks for all your replies. The right click business can be a trifle tricky on a mac but I think I've posted one of my favourite covers. I had wanted to add a bit of text but I couldn't find space.

  17. Good evening, I would like to reply to the "Post your favourite cover" in the Virtual Pub but lack the nous to download a Youtube video. I've tried several times but am getting tied in knots. I use Apple mac iOS. Very grateful for any assistance. Thanks.
  18. Very sorry to hear this. We usually pass that way every other year to and from Langollen.
