  1. £1.40 per litre at Rugby Boats yesterday. Chap said that deliveries are unpredictable and he didn't know how much he was going to have to pay unlil the tanker turned up. He has to order with the price unknown.
  2. Enterprise are now very expensive. Rumour has it that they sold a lot of their cars during lockdown and now there aren't enough new cars in existance for them to replenish their stock. We always used to use them but now search on the internet for local companies.
  3. The bins have apparently been temporarily moved to the bottom of the flight while the redevelopment goes on. Useful huh?
  4. I thought that too. What would the funders (National Lottery, local and regional councils etc.) say if 20 years after spending £30 million the navigation gets closed.
  5. You need to get your terminology correct. A blogger WRITES a blog, like a diary. It contains written words and photos. Our blog is written so that we have a log of our travels to look back on in years to come when we're old a decrepid. Our blog happens to be publically available to anyone who is interested in reading it. We make no money out of it, in fact it costs us money. We don't care how many people read it, it's for us. Bloggers have nothing to do with videos or You Tube. Vloggers (which is what this thread is about) on the other hand make videos and put them on YouTube. They ask for "likes" and ask you to subscribe to their channel. Some of them make money if they are good. We don't vlog, we blog.
  6. Comming from Holme Lock side through Meadow Lane lock. He would like to travel beyond up to Shardlow.
  7. We have a friend with a cruiser that has an air draught in of 8'10. Does the team think he would get under the bridges in Nottingham?
  8. Last October the chaperones that took us and two other boats through on the same passage were voluneers. I can't see that the number of available volunteer would have reduced.
  9. Instead of coming down the Ashton then up the Rochdale have you considered the HNC and Standedge Tunnel instead? Would be shorter and probably fewer locks. But if you do come via Manchester we stayed in Telford Basin and a local resident gave us the gate code to get out. It might be a key fob by now though! We've also stayed on the towpath opposite. There's quite a lot of footfall but we had no bother.
  10. Nowt to do with bloggers! They are old fashioned and sensible. 😀
  11. Yes. I'd be miffed if someone charged me 20% vat on domestic fuel.
  12. But you would still have had some duty paid propulsion diesel in the tank when you turned up so you could use that to pull away. 🙂
  13. We spent two months continuous cruising on the Lancaster, we never had a problem finding a mooring.
  14. Didn't 1930s Bentley racing cars have Superchargers? A means of forcing more fuel/air mixture into the cylinders to make them go faster. Were they belt driven off the fan belt or something? Different to a turbocharger.
  15. If I was doing that trip I'd go down the Trent. No tunnels there!
  16. Hi there. Welcome to the forum. we use these people for our shoes. https://www.sfceurope.com/uk/ Good grippy soles.
  17. Those homes and businesses are regularly flooded and are geared up to deal with it. For example the Kings Arms is quite proud of its flood record. All the furniture is easily moved out of the way along with the stock. The electrics and services are all at high level and when the flood receeds all they need to do is power wash the floors and walls, put the furniture back and away they go. They've done it many times before.
  18. I think the water point is just outside of the basin through the first bridge.
  19. I have a Panasonic PVR connected to a Freeview aerial. I record anything that I expect to want to watch and watch the programme when I want. An advantage of this over streaming from the internet is that I can wizz through adverts. ITV hub / All 4 etc all force you to watch adverrts.
  20. Same with us in Birmingham city centre in Jan 2020. OH needed to stay in Birmingham for a third week for dental treatment. We went to the office at Cambrian Wharf and explained the situation. "Of course" they said. "No problem. Stay for another three weeks if you need to".
  21. Sorry, I'm not on the boat at the moment so can't help. Also it's over 5 years old so probably not a current model. Well done getting it drained.
  22. We had a 2p piece in ours. We have a Beko washer/dryer that happily runs off our Victron 3kva pure sine wave.
