  1. Past hour
  2. I’ve not been meeting many boats at locks on the Lee until yesterday when I met 5. I caught up with 2 and was followed by 3. All going to Little Venice. 👍 Hopefully you’ll have a good turn out.
  3. So is it all long term moorings there or visitors as well ?
  4. Ours are both multifuel so we burn everything, but usually wood. Not all versions are multi though
  5. Well we haven't been out as we went on an ocean cruise in a sunny climate. The weather does make a difference and I am sure if we had had a warm and sunny early spring there would have been more about. I am not one for opening lock gates in the rain and trying to keep dry and sometimes that wind has been biting. It will be interesting to see how things progress over the next few months - just as we are out and about!
  6. I don't even think it's the licence increases, they, tbh, aren't that much, and we are all are stuck with them anyway. I think it's the hugely increased running costs, gas and diesel, repairs and maintenence. Combine that with endless stoppages which just make it more stressful going out for a long trip while wondering if you'll get home and you have to think harder about whether it's worth it. Leisure boaters are probably, like me, doing fewer short 1 or 2 week trips and saving the money for a single long summer cruise.
  7. Today
  8. That’s reassuring to know! We can only fit the short one in the house but I did like the oven version. Do you burn wood or solid fuel on them…I’m hoping to burn mainly wood but I did notice they lack the external riddler that a squirrel has for solid fuel. They do seem a nice solidly built stove…and I’m glad to hear you find them controllable. Many thanks for the information.
  9. We have 2, a woody multi fuel in our house (currently taking some of the dampness away with this great bank holiday weather) and a hungry penguin on our narrowboat. I couldn't honestly say if one metal box to contain fire is better than any other one but in the case of the 2 we have, they work really well, we haven't had any problems, seem well made and they are local(ish). Cooking in the upper oven on the boat is a nice benefit and they seem easily controllable (both sizes). I'd recommend.
  10. When we went out the other weekend it was dead, honestly it can't be all down to the weather I think cost of boating is the restriction and it's just going to get worse with more licence increases
  11. The rivers are full so now they are going to dump it in the T&M instead.
  12. The brokerage market in the last 3/4 years has been very fast moving, boats selling as soon as, or in some cases, before they appear on websites. Brokers often get people wasting their time....if 5 viewings are arranged and 3 of those 5 havnt sold their houses yet....possibly 1 or 2 if those havnt even put it on the market yet.... This is especially so if the boat isnt actually AT a brokerage mooring, and being sold remotely....travelling out to a boat to find out that it could be next year before the prospective viewer is in a position to buy... Which is why most brokerages try to weed out the fender kickers and serious buyers without the ready money YET, with financial position questions. No boat seller is going to agree to a sale and deposit being taken on a boat if the deal will not complete within weeks. It's not you Clive, it's the general market at the moment. If the boat has been there a while(price reduction indicates this), you may have more leverage. Perhaps leave your details with the brokerage and say you are prepared to visit at a similar time when they are already visiting with someone else... There are 2 companies currently offering this exact facility, and it's how I purchased mine.
  13. Yes but without the tallow on the leather flap valve, propulsion is by methane from composting toilet waste plus hot air from some of the self-righteous over-opinionated posters on here.

  19. We have just spent three days boating from Aylesbury to Little Venice and I doubt if we is e passed dozen boats travelling in the opposite direction!
  20. I think it's the second lock down in the Bath flight, taken from the top lock From memory the bottom lock and then the top four were restored but not used for a few years until the deep one (which merged the two unrestored ones) was opened.
  21. Is that the upgrade to Brunel's atmospheric railway
  22. Forum merged my seperate posts. No location was given on pinterest for that second picture, this forum will probably identify it though. From the amount of undergrowth it's closed a while.
