Its always rather nice to moor right outside a pub and always sad when pub moorings turn into long term moorings, and I've seen this happen quite a bit.

The BlueBell (North Stratford) is fully long term moorers.

Rock of Gibralter (Oxford) has had long term moorers, not sure now (maybe this is the one you refer to).

Black Horse (Devizes K&A) has had winter moorers.

Barge (Seend K&A) has had a winter moorer in the past.

You forgot The Golden Lion at Todmorden, which had a boat outside for ages ...

One end of the Boathouse mooring has been used as a long term mooring for some time.  The remaining length is marked as 4 hours/overnight (if you can find the sign behind the vegetation) but frequently has the same boat on it when I pass.

I am not sure that they are their moorings to control. They didn't use to be about 10 years back although they did bluff it from time to time and stick a reserved notice out

Didnt work for us. Moved mooring to off towpath ( paid) mooring. Failed to inform crt. Four months later got an email saying your boat has been in the same place over 14 days you need to move it ( or sign up for continuous mooring  sorry cruising status).

had to tell them it was a paid for mooring with riparian rights, and therefore now our legal permanent mooring until further notice.

How could I forget the Golden Lion at Tod?, its currently my all time favorite canalside pub and I am moored right opposite right now, need to move on tomorow so might even have a couple of pints tonight. The landlady reckons I am a neighbour so I even get discount on the beer!

Vast numbers of archive pictures would suggest otherwise.

The issue of mooring only arose significantly with the advent of leisure cruising. Not really relevant in days of working boats.

Technically (and we have asked) you should inform Cart every time you change from CC to home mooring. However, if those of us who do this multiple times in a year reported each obe then they mighg need more office staff!

Or you could just fill in the home mooring section online - it lists all the moorings CRT know about, and you don't need to spend 20 minutes trying to explain to someone.

Surly if your boat is in a marina at a paid for mooring you are not CCing

True, but in that case you should technically update CRT that you now have a home mooring, even if it's only for a few weeks.  Otherwise you risk being flagged as staying in the same area too long, depending on how enthusiastic the local enforcement team are.

Anything less than a fortnight does not matter, obviously, and you should tell them when you switch back CC mode.

The pub in Wheaton Aston has permanent moorers I think.  There's a longish stretch of well used off-side visitor moorings within the Meaford flight.

I prefer to moor far away from pub moorings, even if i'm going into the pub.  They tend to be noisy and awkward to go for an early morning walk or run from.
