mark99
I heard you can get a phone app that alarms if your phone moves. Could be used if you are worried about being untied at night on a river. Edited May 12, 2018 by mark99

rusty69
Yep, I have used anchor drag alarm apps, which seem to work, although not sure I would trust it 100%
Jess--
if using a phone for this watch out for battery usage, GPS is one of the highest users of power

When I have the phone on satnav (in the car) it only lasts a couple of hours before it needs charging. My 'walking SatNav' lasts 15 hours on 'full power' and up to 100 hours if 'economy', 4 second updates (instead of 1 second updates) and snooze modes are activated GPS is a hungry beast. Detling
If inside a boat the GPS probably won't get sufficient signal to fix on reliably, my phone inside on a shelf by a window often takes several hours before it knows where it is.

Good point - but another reason to go Tupperware (we don't have any problems)

Most phones (if not all) have assisted GPS, so they should be quick at getting a fix. Mine literally takes a few moments.
