Leeds and Liverpool Relocated Pedestals

I see from today's Stoppage Notices that CaRT has commissioned work to relocate control pedestals for several swing bridges on the Leeds and Liverpool to "the Towpath Side to improve ease of operation for single handed boaters".

Is this not a scandal? Will it not seriously impact the ability of skilled boaters to post regularly on forums such as this on just how they manage to operate the current traditional system? Will it not make them redundant? Why is CaRT allowed to ride rough shod over the rights and delights of boaters in coping with the hazards and dangers of this delightful waterway?

I call on all boaters, whether or not traditionalists, to gather for a mass uprooting of these new fangled control pedestals and their re-installation in their rightful place on the off side, thus restoring the proper rights of all single handed boaters. April 1st would seem to be an excellent day to hold this mass disobedience.

Or we could just celebrate this welcome consideration for all boaters, even those who have the temerity to operate swing bridges with a crew member?

This is because the long awaited and indeed incredibly overdue "How To Operate Swing/Lift Bridge" by Phyllis Budweiser has gone out of print before printing started.

Some on used the tome with sicaflex and candle wax to cover up osmosis on several boats in the Brayford Pool Water Ski centre when they found it on a bench there.

Progress has to be made as the masses can no longer rely on forthcoming publication.

A FOI request by Allan from narrowboatworld to CRT has identified at least 7 boaters who are still moored at these bridges after 5 years waiting for delivery of this useful tome.

I recall that thread clearly. I got told off for asking her about it in every thread she appeared in...

Meanwhile it doesn't stop the traffic bingo game, 1 point per pedestrian, 10 points for every car, 25 for every van and lorry, 100 for the beamer that does the irate handbrake turn and whizzes off the other way.

How many points for horns been blown?

and 1000 if, in so doing, it drives into the hedge/water/whatever - but minus 100000 if it causes an accident involving others.
