Canal Events Calendar 2015

I have been having a so far not particularly successful attempt at starting to build a calendar of events likely to take place throughout 2015.

 

Unfortunately, so far, many of these have not updated websites beyond 2014, so a definite 2015 date is sometimes hard to come by.

 

For several I have made my own best guess as a starting point, but all those need confirmation.

If people know definite details of these, or other events you would like added, then please let me know.

I think the way it is going the most likely outcome is that those we get to will be in boats we already have!

I found it listed in a couple of places including on "Cool Canals" here

 

I had strong doubts about that site though, as it shows a Tug Festival at the BCLM at the same date, but these are normally only every two years, and I know there was one in 2014, so I would not expect the next one to be until 2016.

 

I'm rather wondering if that site has just taken last years dates and added a year to them?

Thanks - I may have not looked in best place, but couldn't quickly find a definite date for either on the web. It seems surprisingly hard to find this for many of next years events, and in several cases where I am not familiar with the event personally I have chosen not to list it, rather than guess.

EDIT.

 

I believe the "rule" for Braunston is that it is always "Last Weekend In June", but can anybody confirm that, for definite, please?

Hi Alan, the Huddlesford Heritage Gathering in association with Lichfield Cruising Club will be held at Huddlesford Junction on the Coventry Canal WS13 8PX on 19/20 September 2015.

 

A Boat Gathering & Canal Festival jointly organised by L&H and Lichfield Cruising Club.

Historic Narrowboats, Classic Cars, Children's Puppet Shows, Trade & Craft stalls, Cake stall, Book stall, Bric-a-brac, Games, Barbecue. Coffee & cake and licensed bar available in the cruising club.

Admission by donations to restore Lichfield Canal.

Yes, this isn't a great way to be doing things frankly, and I'm not surprised I'm not getting it 100% right. Will try and add it next time around

 

It seems a shame that the Forum's calendar facilities can't be used to allow people to make their own updates, but when we looked at that last year, it didn't look like it would work out, if only because (I think, from poor memory) it seemed to need moderator intervention each time.

As "what are you doing in 2015?" has come up as another thread, I'll have a go at reposting this (still incomplete!) list of events.

It's hard to know what to include, and where to stop though - some are quite minor and/or not well documented. (I'm afraid I have not included some of those suggested where I have not easily been able to find confirmed references to them - I'm also leaving out the BCNS cruises other than the 24 hour Marathon Challenge, just to avoid flooding the list, as I think anyone likely to do those Explorer cruises will have it in their plans anyway).
