Boat on Kegworth weir

the picture is a little deceiving, unless you see it in real time you can't tell, but there is actually a 50ft drop the other side.

Away from the cut and my guides. How deep is Kegworth Deep lock? 12' ??

The drop is only going to be the same.

The vertical drop over a weir is usually fairly small, then down the weir race down to the river below.

Really???

That would make Kegworth Deep Lock some 2.5 times as deep as Tuel Lane Lock which is normally regarded as the deepest lock on the UK inland waterways.

The weir at Kegworth has a long slope probably around 50ft. The fall is between 10 and 12ft depending on river levels. Like Freemans Meadow in Leicester it has a long crest so the depth of water going over at any one point is only a couple of inches - it is one of the few Soar weirs that I've not been over in a kayak.. It shouldn't be too difficult to the boat off providing that there is enough depth of water to get a couple of decent tugs to it.

Lock up all your locks before they have all gone and the other half will lose their daily exercise.

Was Foxton inclined plane shot down over Germany in the last war ?
