Might have to start looking for a friendly furst mate LOL

The only problem was .... we roasted the outboard and had to bowhaul her home. Ellen was not helpful, but simply shouted "faster, faster" whilst playing the 'race round the boat game using the houdini hatch when she should been steering. Admittedly. at seven she couldn't see but that's not the point!

ROFL I must admit that's what I'd be doing at seven

well I wasn't planning to thrash it, and what could be more exciting than a mid-race-engine-rebuild?

Current CWDF expressions of interest for team Sudan (from Smelly's FB) are: Fuzzy, Denboy, Alex, Ange and Daniel luckily Kathleen will be behind us to hold the overflow otherwise we'll have nowhere to put them!

BTW, I'll be team Sudan's chief cook.

... not forgetting Dave of course - there's a BOGOF offer on when you book me

Think it would be great to have a variety of boats taking part. With a small boat, though, you want to be careful about having too many crew because of the handicap system.

Make sure your friendly first mate will go all the way, though.

Thinking I might offer my place in Team Tawny Owl on Ebay......

Your bunk has already been leased out.

We are up for it (not sure about the dressing up though). The big criteria in our planning will be to get to the pub for our overnight stop at 10 to 11 not 10 past eleven like last year ..

For those that don't know it: You need to get round as much as possible of Birmingham on the last weekend in May starting Saturday at 9am, finishing Sunday at 3pm but with a mandatory 6 hour rest (ie you are only allowed to drive for 24 hours in 30 hours). More details will no doubt appear on the BCNS web site http://www.bcn-society.co.uk/events.php For more information get in touch with Mr R Kenn, 14 Hollemeadow Avenue, Walsall, West Midlands, WS3 1JQ. Telephone: 01922 428644. If anyone is undecided: It is a fantastic event just to take part in, it really is good fun and you get to see parts of Birmingham you would not thinking of going to and actually they are rather nice and very interesting. Last year Sue wrote a live blog as we went round - that's here: http://indigodream.wordpress.com/bcn-marat...nge-2009-index/ We have a half collection of links to other write-ups which we will finish researching and add there.

I am sure that the message from anyone who has taken part is "It is a great event, you have got to take part"

Lots of resources available for planning. Repeating a link from earlier in the thread, I thought this one was very clever: http://www.thecatwhowalksbyhimself.co.uk/o...CNchallenge.php Never did work out how the bonus points worked.

PS I am going to train our dogs to bow haul. The only issue will be keeping the boat off the plane if they see a rabbit, squirrel .....

It was my understanding that there was no mandatory rest period. You are allowed to compete for any 24 of the 30 hours. So, in theory, you could do either the first 24 or the last 24 or (any combination of that) and submit your entry based on the log of that cruise.

The 6 hour break is recommended by the organisers to take in the hours of darkness.

Will holding it a couple of weeks earlier in the year affect the daylight hours much?

Or, take an hour off, every hour, four six hours.... PubStopTime?

I dont know, im sure it will be confirmed in due course. Ultimately it should make too much difference.

I think that is right. I tried (and obviously failed) to make it easier to understand.

Go on go for it, you know you want to…..

I have already accepted Hairy-Neil's apologies (together with a note from his mum) and excused him from duty as crew on Tawny Owl.

I'm going to take a few extra days off this year around the BCN Marathon Challenge weekend so if anyone wants help moving a boat to the BCN before or from the BCN afterwards, I'd be more than happy to help.

LATEST NEWS!!!!

It's off.

As Chasewater is being drained BW cannot guarantee the availability of water on the BCN.

Richard

BCN Marathon Challenge 2011 anyone?

That's a bugger !

I was still actively thinking about how to get involved, either taking up a crewing offer, or possibly even trying to get own boat there.

Humph!
