We have several new usernames here who are clearly long term members who have changed their usernames. Back in the day we used to be able to view a member's unsername history and see what they were previously know as. This facility seems to have been removed. Is that correct or does it still exist and I just can't find it? If the latter, where is it please?!

Many thanks...

The easy way to find out is to view one of their older posts (pre name change) that has been quoted by someone else.

Nope, all of their previous posts (even going back many years) have had their name changed to the new name

I’ve changed my username ,

not for any nefarious reasons,

and I still have my signature at the bottom,

my previous username was an accidental change, and it takes 6 months before you can change a username again

Well, I suppose it depends if they have been quoted or not.

But I think where they’ve been quoted the original username appears in the quote box.

However, I tried this with the OP, who changed his username several years ago, from MiketheBoilerman, if I remember right, to MtB.  His old posts however don't appear to be available, as the maximum is 400 pages, which in the extremely prolific MtB is only 2 years!  Is there a way of going further back in the case of long-standing members with many posts?

That's true. I don't know of another method. Perhaps the mods will come up with something better.

Reading through the Invision admin forums, it looks as though there IS a button to browse username history, but the admin team can remove it.

So it looks as though that's been done here.

any posts I made under the name beerx5 will now show the new username and anything quoted will have the name of beer x5

…and anything that was posted under name Goliath will in turn now show as 5239 but will retain the name Goliath when quoted,

does that make sense?

I didn’t think it’d be problematic. I rarely view others’ history unless by accident. 🤷‍♀️who’d be interested in the crap I’ve posted?

It's not. If it were, it would not be an option in the forum software.

Maybe that's not the issue, but anyone who blocked your crap (your words!!!) previously wants you to stay blocked? 😉😉😉

P.S. No you're not, at least not this week... 😉

Then my mistake,

I thought with the signature and obvious style/manner/bias when posting it was clear to the regulars here who I was.

(if you can’t see my signature then I don’t know what to do about that 🤷‍♀️ I do sign off with one)

I think someone would need to have quoted a message from him that showed the old name.  Name changes propagate to historical messages, (but not to quoted text),and once that happens you wont see the old one.

Nope. Alan posted an example above where that doesn't work.

And you're another! What did you used to post as?!

Thanks!
