Moored at Coven walked up to the village for the first time what a nice place good amenities,co op ,chip shop, chemist great cafe English breakfast £6-50 , butchers too . Rainbow 🌈 pub won't be for everyone. The times I have moored and just gone to the Anchor...... Missed a trick

We have waled up a couple of times. Agree it is worthwhile. Crossing the main road can be a bit of a nightmare.

Thanks for sharing that. 
I’ve never bothered to look further than the Anchor. And since I don’t like the Anchor I don’t stop off there anymore. 
But I’ll make a point next time. 

It’s a convenient place to break up a day’s journey especially in winter doing short days.

We usually stop there as a half way point between Great Haywood and Birmingham but don't usually go in to the Anchor although we did eat there last time we stopped and had a good meal.

Last couple of winters the upper Staff and Worcester has been part of a regular run, all very pleasant along there,

Great Heywood-Tixall Wide- above Tixall lock-Acton Trussell-Penkridge and Gailey-with a couple of other remotes places thrown in, each for a couple of days, then onto Brewood and up the Shroppie,


To add another stopover to explore will be good,

Second Coven farm shop butcher is top quality as is the veg and fruit on the site, and no crossing over the busy road.
