Does anybody know if the rubbish bins at Norbury are going to be replaced? i went past the other day and all the bins have been removed and even the compound itself taken down behind the services block.

According to Facebook no. You have to use the bins at Tyrley Locks and make a lot of noise to annoy the anti boater there

The announcement a few weeks ago said they were being permanently removed due to misuse.  We put rubbish in there last month and it was terrible but looked like a lot of non boaters junk dumped in there.  If it is costing CRT too much to manage a particular site due to misuse then I don't blame them for closing it down. I'm waiting for Great Haywood rubbish to go as that is another location that seems to get well abused but given the amount of oil containers in there I think mostly abused by boaters.

It could be Anglo Welsh saving money by not having an oil collection their selves and putting it in the CRT bin

Bit of a daft supposition to make.

The local bins at Church Steps Weedon get filled up as soon as they get emptied. CRT asked Stowe Hill Wharf to host them, as the contractor waste they were finding was obviously not boater waste. The request was not allowed as they wouldnt let the Wharf put an "OPENING HOURS BIN USE ONLY"  stipulation on the service, therefore Wharf security would be compromised.

Rumour has it that he (I think it is a 'he') objects to boats using the lock in the evening.

(Obvious comment.......Why buy a house etc etc........)

I believe the plan is for them to be relocated to the wharf opposite where hopefully not only will there be better access for collection but they won’t be abused as much as the site by the CSF.

I have pointed out the original stoppage notice could have made this clearer. If anyone is local and the relocation hasn’t happened in the next few weeks please let me know and I’d be happy to chase it up.
