There aren't any.

Or maybe you're just not very particular!

That is an incredibly bold and very sweeping statement. Whilst it is true that some pubs are not great at serving good food and good beer it is certainly not true of all pubs.

I can think of many pubs I have had excellent food in. Ok these tend not to be the pubs belonging to the big chains, as their offerings tend to be 'OK' and prepared to a price rather than excellent.

The food in the Sammy Barlow used to be excellent. All locally sourced too.

Only ever ate in there once but years ago and it was excellent from memory. Not outrageously expensive either.

It use to be excellent at serving food when the Ausi was running it pre pandemic.

Very true, but he disappeared maybe 5 years before that?

He had the gift of the gob

I liked him

Good at front of house stuff,

chatted to every customer,

Remember the ‘Lady Boy’ steak?

He lived on a boat too.

Nice bloke.

He was excellent and his personal touch made the evening more enjoyable. Another loss to canal side catering was the chef who used to be at the pub at Branston. He lived on a boat called the Poisson Dwarf . That is going back a few years though 🙂

I can never understand the fascination pubs have with serving food

Gross Profit Wet on average 30-40%
Gross Profit Dry on average  60-80%

Wet stock accountable to the last drop, dry not so due to high wastage and evidence being binned.
