At least the good news for those boats that were stuck in Leicester is that Birstall lock opened today, so they can at least escape escape even if it’s back theway they came.

It lasts for years, when we restored Malham lock on the Wey & Arun, we found the original bottom gate cill and planking in perfect condition after 110 years of abandonment.

There's aproblem if your bashing the bottom gate cill, top gate yes.
