Andy_C Posted July 2, 2020 Report Posted July 2, 2020 Just been going through some old packs of photos and found a couple of Taygeta loading coal at Gunpowder Wharf, Kidlington on the S. Oxford in 1993. Anyone know the current owner, so I can send them scans? Andy Clarke
Ray T Posted July 2, 2020 Report Posted July 2, 2020 You could try contacting the Historic Narrow Boat Club. https://hnbc.org.uk/ https://hnbc.org.uk/contact
James Owen Posted July 2, 2020 Report Posted July 2, 2020 Hi Andy, I'm sorry to say the last I heard of her she was on the bank being cut up, albeit quite carefully to make getting rid of the scrap pieces easier. Nick
David Mack Posted July 2, 2020 Report Posted July 2, 2020 (edited) Really? This doesn't look like a boat only fit for scrap. https://hnbc.org.uk/boats/taygeta From the photos it appears to have had the back end rebuilt between 2010 and 2016. Edited July 2, 2020 by David Mack 1
zenataomm Posted July 2, 2020 Report Posted July 2, 2020 My memory has probably gone off on a weird tangent, but wasn't Taygeta owned in the 80/90 by a strange vicar with a particular attitude against humanity?
stagedamager Posted July 2, 2020 Report Posted July 2, 2020 (edited) I think Taygeta is at Brinklow at the moment. Edited July 2, 2020 by stagedamager

Indeed - owned by an employee of Brinklow Boat Services who is restoring it in his spare time. The “floating classroom” boat is the Tucana. Taygeta AKA Severn Dolphin was on hire from BW to a iirc a David Thompson and was used in the coal trade later returning to maintenance in the NW. Paul Edited July 2, 2020 by Paul H

Nick Assuming of course that it is Taygeta.....either way, best thing for it I think. Some idiot's gone and drilled loads of holes in it so it'll never float anyway.
Andy_C Posted July 2, 2020 Author Report Posted July 2, 2020 (edited) Pics as requested. Sad to hear she's (maybe?) no more - shame. Edited July 2, 2020 by Andy_C clarity 1
