I don't think this Horse is doing much pulling ?

 

 

 

Quite right, too. The back rope does the forward motion, the front one does the steering.

Early holidays again: the southern Oxford Canal and the northern in, I think,1954. The Canal Cruising Company of Stone had to regularly renew side-opening windows, at £2 a time (= £56 today)

Mol locks Herentals Canal Belgium. This canal was part of the route from leige to Antwerp before the Albert canal was built. The barges are called Kempenaars and are 55m long. Most of the traffic is silica sand from a loading place just above these 3 locks.

The "living sculpture" above the lock, which compares with its hairier self in 2018 below (#1033) and when new public art in 1999 below (#1030)
