Water Organ : a  water-powered pipe organ . The paddle is powered by the current and linked by belts and gears to pump the bellows. Below the boxes are the pipes. The notes played are determined by sensors that measure the water speed, turbidity and the boat's orientation. The resulting sounds are a slow, semi-random sequence produced wholly acoustically with no electronic amplification. Watching is Mark Zygadlo, designer and builder of the instrument.

Old gaff rigged yachts are a lot of work.

Had a morning extracting the mast from the 1894 built 58ft Waitangi.Then a post engine repair, proving cruise on the 1897 built 60ft Thelma.

Back to the dock to moor next to the gorgeous1886 built Pastime. 20230706_111533.thumb.jpg.4dafde8f4e5f2a7ad76d2063b66e9b6b.jpg
