  1. Thanks very much for the replies, I'll get the parts ordered & see how it goes, I'll let you know.
  2. I've just Googled it & got http://www.normanboats.co.uk/ which seems to work.
  3. You might remember I had a problem with my Mikuni last month where it turned out I had bent the fuel pipe when I was servicing the engine. I've now had a look to get it sorted & running again. The picture shows the problem, the silver tube is part of the glowplug boss and it appears that there was a short piece of brass pipe soldered in the end & connected to the copper fuel pipe from the pump with the coupling shown. The short piece of brass pipe has snapped off (and is left in the end of the coupling shown). I am left with the silver pipe which has an OD (measured with micrometer) of 6mm to reconnect to the copper pipe OD 4.75mm. What connector do I need to get please. Thanks
  4. There was a topic opened on this yesterday in General Boating
  5. Its been commented on several times on here in the past that the Vine isn't/wasn't up to much. We've never been in there but it always struck me as strange as according to the business cards in The Eagle & Sun at Hanbury Wharf they are in the same small group of 5 pubs. We've eaten at The Eagle & Sun many times over the last 5 years and in our experience they cannot be faulted. Strange.
  6. I've never encountered a rude BW/CRT employee in 18 years & I don't think I've ever been aware of an obviously lazy one either. Has something happened to provoke the OPs feelings I wonder?
  7. I think he means on the right on the way out of Gloucester, after Monks Meadow, before Hempstead Bridge, where the new houses are opposite the timber yards, where the wall is quite high. The tall ships usually moor there before the festival.
  8. We've been on the G&S 17years & to the best of my knowledge there are no true residential moorings but I admit I have never looked for one. As it is fairly recent perhaps Saul Marina has some, worth a phone call. The moorings that CRT offer now & again always seem to be leisure moorings, again, a phone call to the office in Gloucester might be worthwhile. Having said all that that does seem to be a number of liveaboards up & down the canal but I seem to recall that there was a case recently where up & down the 16 miles of the G&S didn't satisfy CRT as far as CC was concerned, it was necessary to venture out through Gloucester Lock (when you can!) & up the Severn.
  9. It depends whether the boat is for fettling or for using. We live 15 mins walk from the boat & often take it out to go shopping in Gloucester, 2 hours away, rather than take the car, 20 mins. Sometimes we go the other way to the pub for lunch. I'm not a fettler, its much more fun to go boating.
  10. What!!!! You mean you had some but hadn't tried it yet, whatever next!
  11. Ho Ho I was only saying what I had found to be available & where it can be got, I'll let you know when I have tried it!!!!
  12. Rustins, a common brand, also do a wood bleach, though I've never used it. I got some Oxalic acid from Amazon but haven't used it yet.
  13. The OP said " We know your boat said Romiley but can't remember anything else. " Is that a place name then, I took it to be the boat name. There is a "Romiley" on the G&S, might be out & about.
  14. Might not be much left for the Historic Boats weekend on 29th 30th June.
  15. https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/notices/15481-river-severn-gloucester-lock-to-lincomb-lock Having waited 4 months to get out of Gloucester Lock, now we cant get back home!!!
  16. I know what I mean. Capital works are the responsibility of CRT under the terms of the lease. The club was formed in 1976 so they've managed so far, the only profit needed is enough to cover the postage on the AGM notices!!!
  17. I stuck mine on with gripfill, 17 years later they are still there.
  18. In our case, the boat club is a Limited Company, run by the members, with a lease from CRT of the length which it then rents out to the club members. Certainly a commercial operation, non profit making maybe, but certainly regarded as commercial.
  19. Sorted. I spoke to Ed Shiers, he gave me some useful pointers. I had the boards up to check some of what he suggested & straight away found a problem with the fuel supply. It looks as though I knocked/leant on the fuel pipe between the fuel pump & glow plug boss & bent it & so restricted the fuel supply when I was servicing the engine/changing the coolant before we came away. I very carefully bent it back close to where it should be and all is well again. I'll remake the pipe properly when we get home. I remember I struggled with the bottom skin tank hose down in that corner but hadn't realised I'd bent the pipe. Thanks for suggestions.
  20. There are some Thetford produced videos on You Tube covering this & replacement of all the parts of a C200 cassette. They used a cutaway cassette for this particular problem, made it a good bit clearer. All the videos are listed about 2/3rds down this page. https://www.thetford-europe.com/gb/products/toilets/cassette-toilets/c200-cs-no-longer-available
  21. Thanks for that, I'd be reluctant to take it apart, not really knowing what I'm looking for, we don't really need it at the moment & are away for a few weeks yet so I'd have problems having parts delivered. I do however already have a spare glowplug & gasket set that I have never yet needed.
  22. Thanks very much both of you, both ideas worth trying, I'll give it a go. Steve
  23. Sadly, our MX40, after 15years unfailing, albeit light service has given up the ghost. The on/off switch flashes 3 slow flashes followed by 6 quick flashes which, if its the 6 quick ones that count, not the 3 slow flashes means "fuel pump failure" We are out for 6 weeks at the moment & at this time of year its not a major problem but will need sorting. My first thought was to ask member NMEA but sadly it was last October that he was last seen on the forum. When I switch it on the start up sounds normal, I can hear the fuel pump ticking, it fires up as the nearest rad flow pipe starts to warm but it then stops working after a couple of minutes. The Mikuni Flow chart suggests replacing the control box, if that doesn't sort it replace the fuel pump, I'd have expected that to be the other way round. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions please. Thanks Steve
