1. Joseph Mason paints factory closed in 2002! May I also add that I have used another well known brand of RED paint to recoat parts of our boat, and this has faded/discoloured in less than two years. I am now in the process of changing the red colour altogether. Incidently the newer red paint looked worse than the older paint that was still visable from when the boat was new.
2. We use the 'old type' 5amp plugs and sockets (3 round pins)that households used before the advent of thirteen amp types. Available from Screwfix part Nos 13322 and 11412. these seem to be more robust than 12v versions that I have found.
3. ---------------and don't forget to include some good luck!!! By the way, were does your journey begin and end?
4. For what it is worth, in my opinion hard flooring could be a problem on a rainy day. If for instance you go down into the cabin (in a hurry) with wet footwear, would there not be more chance of slipping?
5. I don't think you will get 12v lamps/bulbs with the same size bayonet or screw fixing as 240v! Otherwise there would be a danger of someone fitting a 12v lamp/bulb into a 240v mains fitting with dire consequences.
6. We too have a LPWS3, and are very pleased with it. If the OP changes to a Beta will this also require a gearbox change?
7. Gas Oil and diesel were always considered to be the same thing when I worked in industry. I have just copied and pasted the following from the website of a fuel distribution company;- Red diesel is also known as gas oil, 35 seconds, medium diesel, heating oil, tractor diesel, cherry, generator fuel, digger fuel and many more. Whatever you call Red Diesel, Crown Oil can supply you with it where you want it, when you want it. Red Diesel is used by our industrial, commercial, agricultural and construction customers in a wide variety of uses from heating right through to tower cranes, excavators, diggers, tractors etc. Call now on 0845 313 0845 Red diesel is the low duty form of diesel and can be used in off road untaxed vehicles i.e. agricultural/industrial/construction machinery and as home heating only. Using red diesel for other purposes is against the law. Red diesel is minimally taxed and can not be used as automotive diesel fuel. Customs and Excise regulations require minimally taxed diesel to have a special red dye. This way the inspectors can quickly and conclusively identify the presence of red diesel and take appropriate action against the offender. For Red Diesel Suppliers - Call now on 0845 313 0845
8. Yes that is a bridge rectifier. It will convert AC supply to DC output (if working correctly). The AC input is to the terminals marked (as in the picture) by a wavey line ( ~) . The output terminals will be marked + and - . Hope this helps!
9. I want to have cylinder locking on my narrowboat doors but with the cylinder located beside the doorway, not in the doors themselves. For what reason?
10. I had some tape from these people, very good it is too! E-bay Item number: 290326535744 is for 600mm X 3m @£8.99 + £4-30 postage. They also do lots of different colours and widths.
11. I can vouch for that. I went to Millar Marine and spoke to Norman about paint for the roof of my narrowboat (steel). He recommended Epiphanes to recoat over the anti-slip material that was already on there. It was touch dry quite quickly on the day (not cold weather) that I used it. I assume the 24hr quote is for the paint to reach a reasonable durability. No doubt someone will tell me otherwise.
12. Are none of you F1 fans? This sounds like the technology currently being used in Formula one. Known as KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System). Google KERS if you need more information.
13. You're not alone! I got one from Aldi a couple of weeks ago. And our local Lidl is directly opposite the Aldi store too. Still as someone has already stated, will they have many on the shelves?
14. Epifanes Multiforte. Made for the job, comes in a 4Ltr tin so enough for two coats in exactly the same colour! ( using smaller tins could give slightly different shades) This stuff is made for metal surfaces, decks /roofs etc.
15. Good to hear things are moving forward. Hope you get the new engine up and running soon. Let us know when you do!

17. This numbering system seems flawed to me. We owned a boat in the eighties/early nineties, built in 1978. The index number was 60090.
18. Why is the 'u' missing from the word buy, Is it significant?
19. similar to this http://www.narrowboatworld.com/23%20news.html
20. Clocks need to go forward (Spring forward, Fall back)
21. My favorite is the Shropshire Union, But no doubt others have a different view.
