Beware buying electrical items from Ebay. I have found it might be labelled as rated at 10amps or whatever, but expires after a short period of use, even when used at well under the claimed rating, whether or not it appears to Chinese.
Older UK made stuff is better, military spec is best.,
Looks to me like the original property has been split into 2 or more smaller units.
I guess calling it " Lodge " enables the original named to be retained in some way.
I went to Astley Green Mining Museum last year on a beautiful September weekend, after a trip on the East Lancs railway, and a walk along the derelict Manchester, Bolton & Bury canal.
I've just picked up a prop and am measuring the tapered bore.
Its 35 mm bore at one end, 44 mm at the other, with a thickness of 113 mm.
I make that an angle of just over 2 deg from the centre axis, 4.5 deg in total.
Is that a standard size ?
44 mm is almost exactly 1.75" so I guess thats the dia of the shaft its best for.
Can someone kindly report to CRT that water is pouring through the retaining wall from the lock chamber onto the towpath ginnel under the bridge.
I'm not able to do so.
I suspect someone makes these now (or recently) using old graphics, and adding a few scratches for "patina".
I have had a Rolls Royce Motors mirror for 20 years, in an identical style and frame.
I don't think its really old.
Candlebridge Fabrications at Blisworth Tunnel boats made and fitted us a nice one in stainless. They cut the front deck out as that formed the rusty lid of the old water tank, dropped the new one in, and made a new deck floor, incl lockers. A top job.
Its probably 90% the volume of the old "tank" as it doesn't have the curved sides, but is clearly the sensible approach.
We can recommend them.
A colleague in the Heritage Rail world has come up with this list of 0 6 0 locos in Leicestershire.
One is shown at the Snibston Discovery Park, though its fate is not so certain.
They could have used much of the historical footage and commentary from their own programme " The golden age of canals" which features a lot on restoration especially of the Huddersfield Narrow. It also goes into how the IWA was formed by Rolt and Aikman. But they chose to write a new script.
BTW the comment about CRT saving the canals is at 19.46.
