  1. Looks like it is moored at the Lady B marina perhaps. Does look pretty smart but as has been said it is very dear, 22k would be "tops"
  2. Perhaps it might be a bit hard to get a suitable surveyor with experience of steel narrowboats, lumpy water surveyors in fact tend to treat ditch crawlers with much amusement. It is also true that any surveyor must be treated with much caution unless they come personally recommended by the gurus on here. If the boat really is moored in Shorham I guess that I might be the nearest member of the forum to it and I would be more than willing to meet up with the OP and provide another pair of eyes provided that he is greyhound friendly.
  3. ''Twas I who suggested posting on here. Their boat is very smart and they are thoroughly nice people so I hope they have the best of luck......they are going to need it :-)
  4. Given how vulnerable boats are and the amount of scally wags that are around I am amazed at the lack of stuff being stolen. I am somewhat at a loss what to do now as my chav beater is broken and I am going up the boat for a few days tomorrow :-)
  5. The problem with these sorts of jungle drum comments is that they warn the 'accused' and also make it difficult for the police should they wish to take action. That is leaving aside any activities by 'vigilantes' . It is very common for online 'facts' quickly become here say and down right lies.
  6. And get your own survey, don't rely on any done previously and like Mike I think this seems a bit of London (?) value although really go into the t and c of the mooring. And take note they are open to offers although there is always the smart arse who is prepared to pay the full price without a survey.
  7. Halfords pah!!!!!! I went to buy a fan belt in an emergency yesterday(sun) and they don't sell them, special order from Euro Parts only........useless
  8. Perhaps in the excitement of trying to recreate the Gibbo/ChrisW fun and frolics the gurus can't see the wood for the trees and are even looking from the wrong end of the telescope. Being extremely thick as regard to elekrtickery, I would have though that the way to go would be to ask the OP to do a usage survey and as part of this for him(?)to describe his charging regime in detail, I say this as a boater with one battery which supports both starting and other minor uses which is charged by a dynamo. I have had the same battery for three and a half years. I am most definately not a live aboard :-)
  9. A bit more than a bit harsh I think, are you Paddington bear in disguise :-)
  10. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  11. Ten per cent 'superstar' lawyers and the rest just lawyers..........the guy had no chance :-)
  12. Best of luck to you both, a couple of the nicest and most genuine people I have ever met......if only briefly.
  13. Our stern 'traditional' stern gland drips about a mug full in 24 hours on average although I have never understood why the flo rate varies so much. We don't have a pump just an enamel pie dish. I think the key to the OPs problem is contained in his use of the word "remember", there are all sorts of things you have to remember when boating.
  14. This situation is summed up by the well know phrase "You can take a horse to water but you can't make it drink". It seems to me that Max is seriously depressed ( I know a little about this !) and is doing what she can to make matters as bad as she can to in some way justify her feelings.
  15. How on earth do you polish a liquid? Looks like a flim flam to me a bit like those pellets that you put in your car tank in the early eighties that were supposed to halve your fuel consumption. If it looks too good to be true it always is.
  16. It might be good if you could post some info. about the boat, pics, builder etc as there is bound to be so one on here who has a similar boat And could perhaps show you a way forward. Best of luck, hope your get it all sorted out soonest.
  17. And a very experienced boater and all round good egg :-)I am neither but it is a very ugly fore end, is it a Liverpool or similar sheIl as this might allow you to get a substantial discount INMHO Do you also realise that your cruising range will be somewhat restricted? Although the low air draft will allow you to negotiate bridges more easily
  18. A couple of friends of mine have just bought a 72' concrete clipper from the Sea of Cortez to Lisbon without incident.
  19. Well said, Your most important job will be to get rid of the concrete, very little point of using good blacking either in or out and leaving the concrete in. The concrete also indicates a shoddy boat building job as well IMHO
  20. Bellowed with rage more like :-) but yes Carl, I find that I can achieve much more by not using the head down and run for the line approach.
  21. I read your title as holding tank FILLING
