  1. Oh, some of them are a tad quicker than that ... https://www.thedrive.com/tech/21587/jaguar-breaks-world-electric-boat-speed-record The Jaguar Vector V20E electric racing boat achieved an average speed of 88.61 miles per hour over two passes
  2. Oh I don't know ... it sounds like the bank's internal systems work fine if they didn't give the dreamer the mortgage.
  3. https://www.cheshirefire.gov.uk/news-events/incidents/collision-between-two-boats-in-barnton Date/Time:14/09/2020 - 17:12Address:Tunnel Road, Northwich.Attendance:Three fire engines attended from Northwich, Winsford and Runcorn, along with the Water Incident Unit from Warrington.Details At around 5.10pm firefighters were called to reports of a collision between two boats in the Trent and Mersey Canal. Crews were dispatched to the scene and on arrival they found that two forty foot long canal boats had collided in the Barnton Tunnel and had become stuck inside the tunnel. Firefighters entered the tunnel and rescues the pilots from both barges, along with a dog, and brought them all to safety. They were then passed to the care of a doctor at the scene who deemed that they had not sustained any injuries as a result of the collision. The dog was also safe and well. The scene was then handed to the Canal and River Trust. Firefighters were in attendance for around one hour and forty minutes.
  4. Mine is connected to the domestic bank now, not to engine battery as it was when I bought it. It's more to do with tidying up the wiring than any great concerns about flooding though - the boat is dry. If you are leaking that badly you should fix the leak though, as there's no point having a well charged engine battery a couple of feet below the water!

  6. I hope you're not running it after 8pm! The inverter can be used overnight for other loads, and as long as you don't go silly bigger is possibly better. For what it's worth my 3kW inverter is left on 24/7 so I always have mains power available, and it's "wastage" is simply factored into to my electrical usage. As a cheap-but-not-nasty inverter, I recommend the ones from Sunshine Solar. Don't bother with anything that isn't pure sine wave, especially if you want to run electronics from it. https://www.sunshinesolar.co.uk/Category/PureSineWave12V
  7. What do you want/need to run? All mains isn't a daft idea, especially if you already have plenty of sockets, but be wary of the "sleep mode" claims of some inverters, as they are usually useless if you run small loads (eg phone chargers.) Once we have an idea of what you want to plug in, we can recommend appropriate inverters.

  9. Maybe those are boats ignoring the stoppage from the Western end, so there might be six in there now!
  10. Assuming you are starting from Silsden a week is enough. It depends on how much boating and how much stopping you want to do.
  11. I'm going for 10 days if they have to keep coming out of the Western end of the tunnel and walking over the top to give reports to the waiting boats at the Eastern end ...
  12. Move to Venetian, problem solved!
  13. And if one (or both!) of them is an ex-working boat ...

  15. It would be even more pointless to weld the washers inside the hull though!
  16. I thought they were just well reinforced bits of ship - the magnets are on the jetty.
  17. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-lincolnshire-54153389 Seal joins in with River Witham paddleboard lesson A seal was filmed hitching a ride on a paddleboard on the River Witham in Lincolnshire.
  18. That'll be the wolves then!
  19. Excellent idea. I can think of a few UK motorways that need removing to restore the canal ...
  20. Ah, go on! Gives us a list of names in no particular order and we'll try and guess who is which number.
  21. Two? Try five! An edition of TheBiscuit's travelling circus from 2016 : A breasted pair of narrowboats towing a breasted canoe and rowing boat with a flubber piled on top. We did get some comments that day. Admittedly not a narrow lock.
  22. They have the necessary powers in the old BW byelaws. They simply choose not use them - it was a regular complaint from the late Nigel Moore.
