Pearson is far easier to see/read if you are old and with poor sight! Nicholson though is far more factual and as has been said a far more accurate map. Nicholson also has the advantage of knowing exactly where North is so you can identify direction of the eye in the sky!!
Just to add to this-this year not only loads of spiders (who are my mates!) but have had to say goodbye to 6 snails in the past three days!! what are they attracted to?
I used to moor at the Black Prince centre at Acton Bridge on the Trent & Mersey. This was a number of years ago.
Th hire boats from their were very well maintained and their set out appeared very user friendly for families.vI cannot speak for Chirk.
You are choosing a super canal but expect it to be very busy in August!

If moored at Alrewas a visit to the National Arboretum is well worth a visit-even for young girls-probably better than the beer museums in Burton!!

On a fishing match day who has priority over visitors moorings?
I have just been told by Mr Grumpy that I could not moor between fishermen who are partaking in a fishing match.
Needless to say I have done!!
