  1. Have a look at canal cruising in Stone. A great town to start and finish from as well as good cruising and wonderful people to deal with!
  2. Well I have been told to douse my fire when passing through in winter months- won't obey in the future!
  3. Pearson is far easier to see/read if you are old and with poor sight! Nicholson though is far more factual and as has been said a far more accurate map. Nicholson also has the advantage of knowing exactly where North is so you can identify direction of the eye in the sky!!
  4. Just to add to this-this year not only loads of spiders (who are my mates!) but have had to say goodbye to 6 snails in the past three days!! what are they attracted to?
  5. Fully agree and the River Soar gets even better past Loughborough.
  6. some so and so had mine in Goring On Thames last year!
  7. I used to moor at the Black Prince centre at Acton Bridge on the Trent & Mersey. This was a number of years ago. Th hire boats from their were very well maintained and their set out appeared very user friendly for families.vI cannot speak for Chirk. You are choosing a super canal but expect it to be very busy in August! Enjoy
  8. just received a notification that passage past Alrewas not available due to high river levels
  9. Agree with Lillyanne above. Canal Cruising in Stone will sort. They have an old-fashioned puffing billy pump out which won't give up until all empty!
  10. erm has the lock been repaired? on way to the River Festival at beginning of July!
  11. Have a look at the route from Canal Planner: http://canalplan.org.uk/cgi-bin/canal.cgi If moored at Alrewas a visit to the National Arboretum is well worth a visit-even for young girls-probably better than the beer museums in Burton!!
  12. Yes I got it and went to the forum and couldn't see anything!!Obviously looking in the wrong place-this is not unusual for me per SWMBO!
  13. Just signed up for Mi-Fi Osprey with EE-Went for 3G Bytes per month at c £15 per month. Have been shocked today to be told that I have used my data allowance in 48 hours. This is without online gambling/films/games Will be on the phone to them on monday morning!!
  14. Can vouch for this deli-it is excellent-bought some Brie which was the bees knees! Twas also open on a Sunday morning.
  15. Caldon every time. The Bridgewater is pretty boring. An alternative would be T&M to Anderton then down into the River Weaver via the lift
