  1. If it is just a cable without any.other linkage the only way to reduce travel is move the cable end nearer to the shaft on the selector lever.
  2. TIG or MMA with high nickle wire or rods is best
  3. It is possible the head gasket can blow between 2 cylinders check you have fuel to the injetors first. Slacken all injector pipes at the injectors, make sure stop is in and give it some throttle and crank the engine over, you should get fuel at the injectors.
  4. Im not too far away if you don't get it sorted
  5. Is this engine not fitted with a rubber gasket? should be fine using the excisting one
  6. something like this is what you need http://www.ssldieselparts.co.uk/filter-assembly-sfa3-p-708.html
  7. Air leaks including controls, being able to close off the air to be able to keep it ticking over for longer. Ive had a morso squirrel which stayed in for 3 days. In my opinion the squirrel is good.
  8. In the past ive used the ones with a slant and ground more off to get it vertical
  9. Pop bottles afe fine for pop. Shouldnt need anything more than the bowman manifold
  10. I pad with a sim card in? £12 for 3 months 3Gb
  11. What is the temp of the skin tanks? If it was a tank problem they would be hotter than the 70 degrees mentioned earlier
  12. The origional thermostats fitted were of a type that had a sleve to shut off the bypass when the thermostat opens. The coolant wil take the easiest route without a thermostat, if the system is restrictive this could mean coolant mostly recirculating within the engine and not the full system. Just a thought.
  13. Whats a heave and belch? is it now fitted with a thermostat? has the water pump been changed?
  14. Keeping it serviced is the key. thats good hrs for a BMC as they wouldnt do much more than 45000 miles in a road vehicle lol.
  15. Not sure how many proper marine engines are about as most are marinised vehicle, stationary or tractor engines lol.
  16. As Richard says all hydraulic gearboxes have mechanical parts, Hydraulic drives using pumps and motors are mechanical too. Not sure why the RCR guy thinks its not repairable? surely he should see what's wrong and see if the parts are available before condeming it to scrap?
  17. CAV096, CAV296, CAV901 7111-296 Champion L131 Crosland 522 Coopers AZF015 Fram CP1191PLUnipart GFE5296 Multipart 601980 Perkins 26560017 26561117 above is the alternative numbers, personally I'm not a fan of Fram Filters, Fitting a remote filter of this type with a water separator, before the engine isnt a bad idea too, cheap and filters available from any motorfactors.
  18. 8000 to 10000 hrs shouldnt be out of the way for an engine thats regularly serviced, Service intervals of 250 hrs is normal, cheap maintenance.
