  1. Hi everyone avlecote marina managed to get us sorted out, just a new fuse and a new wire and we were all sorted! Thanks again
  2. Thanks for the replies and offers of help, it really is heartening to know people are so kind to offer help. I managed to speak to someone at avlecote marina and although they are busy tomorrow they are going to have a look and see if its an easy fix. Luckily the man I spoke to has the same engine so fingers crossed it will be all sorted by 9.30!! If we do require any parts I may get back to you! Thanks so much again
  3. Hi there, first off apologies if this is in the wrong area, I'm kind of new to this forum but thought this would be the best place to get the right help. This morning our fan belt snapped and after an hour we managed to get a new one fitted on, but in doing so a wire became loose and we initially didn't know where it went! While fiddling about we managed to blow something (a fuse maybe, although we've checked all the obvious ones) does anyone know of an electrical boat engineer or someone who may be able to help us tomorrow? We managed to get the boat going again, with a screwdriver and are currently heading towards alvecote marina on the coventry canal by tamworth or there abouts, but we know it won't start tomorrow as the glow plugs will be cold. Why do these things always happen on or close to a weekend!?! Thanks in advance
  4. Due to be going through here the week before the bank holiday! May have to change our well planned summer holiday please keep us posted on any developments. Have checked CART website and nothing there yet?
  5. I also have this problem so would be interested to see if anyone else can solve this issue. I have no idea what type of inverter we have (hubby deals with all things engine and power related) so the previous comments about how to solve mean nothing to me!! Is it a problem with the inverter, phone or charger? If someone could explain in lay mans terms I'd be greatful!
  6. We are due to move our boat to Droitwich spa marina next month. All the facilities are brand new, you have a selection of short weekend trips around Droitwich, shopping for your daughters in Worcester and close to the M5. The owners seem lovely and the setting is in the country although not far from amenities.
  7. I've seen for children you can have inflatable rolls that are joined together and the person sleeps between them. They are designed for children but I'm sure it would take a serious roll to go over the top of them as an adult. Although the solution above would be the safest option if it fits with the bulkheads. We use the child version for both our children (3 and 8) and although they don't slot down the back like they are designed for, the weight of the child seems to keep them in place.
  8. Hello, we are moving our boat from Strensham Mill to Droitwich Spa Marina via the warwickshire ring, anti clockwise over the course of the summer holidays. We have to come home for work at weekends and plan on leaving the boat at Alvechurch, lemington Spa and Tamworth (having one weekend on the boat, hence the big gap between lemington and Tamworth!) We have two young children, 7 and 3 and I'm after places of interest to keep them amused, places to stop near parks etc. we have already scheduled a day at Warwick castle and a day or two at Drayton manor. Is there anything good I've missed? As a side note, we have quite a wide narrowboat, are there any tight fitting locks? We got stuck in one coming out Stratford-on-avon a couple of years ago and after a lot of flushing, pulling and pushing we got ourselves free but would hate to have to do that again!! Looking forward to any info!
  9. Hi, quite new to the site and the only comments I have seen regarding children are generally negative ones about tripping over them in the pub! Any chance of having a page dedicated to boating with children, equipment for them, how to keep them entertained, places to take them etc. we have two young children and any helpful info we can gain from the forum would be good and even if people don't have young children of their own, they may take their grandchildren away occasionally.
