If it is just a cable without any.other linkage the only way to reduce travel is move the cable end nearer to the shaft on the selector lever. -
Sikaflex is the stuff, as long as they're staying in

TIG or MMA with high nickle wire or rods is best

It is possible the head gasket can blow between 2 cylinders check you have fuel to the injetors first. Slacken all injector pipes at the injectors, make sure stop is in and give it some throttle and crank the engine over, you should get fuel at the injectors.

Air leaks including controls, being able to close off the air to be able to keep it ticking over for longer. Ive had a morso squirrel which stayed in for 3 days. In my opinion the squirrel is good.

In the past ive used the ones with a slant and ground more off to get it vertical

Pop bottles afe fine for pop. Shouldnt need anything more than the bowman manifold

What is the temp of the skin tanks? If it was a tank problem they would be hotter than the 70 degrees mentioned earlier

The origional thermostats fitted were of a type that had a sleve to shut off the bypass when the thermostat opens. The coolant wil take the easiest route without a thermostat, if the system is restrictive this could mean coolant mostly recirculating within the engine and not the full system. Just a thought.

Whats a heave and belch? is it now fitted with a thermostat? has the water pump been changed?
