  1. Martin on Halsall may be able to supply some.
  2. Yes I only had a quick look and misread reference to £600K.
  3. According to Canal Plan (https://canalplan.org.uk/index.html) it is 6 days but would depend on how much boating you want to do each day.
  4. I don't think the advert makes it particularly clear. £600k doesn't seem enough if the marina is included.
  5. You won't turn a 60' above the lock, unless you mean the lock down to the river. You will need to go through York Street lock and turn in the basin which should be easy enough. Watch out for the cross wind that can be blowing. There is then moorings above the lock, I haven't moored further out than that at Stourport but there is a pub a bit further out but I am sure last time I went past they were advertising live music. When doing that stretch I tend to moor at Compton (nice chip shop), Greensforge, Stourton Junction, Kinver and Stourport. Personally I wouldn't stay overnight I Kidderminster.
  6. Yes, once and only once for me as phone wouldn't load my boarding pass. Fortunately I had a printed copy in my hand luggage as back up.
  7. Is that supposed to be 1 April 2018..?
  8. The traffic is worse in the city when there is a problem on the M5, this generally manages to bring everything to a standstill. There are good park and ride services so no real need to drive in.
  9. They have a business building boats based on the eco boat so will be interesting to see if any more appear.
  10. We paid £2000 last year, that included removal of the old stove, hearth and surround and then fitting new hearth and tiled surround to have a more suitable installation with sufficient air gaps and heat protection. We also had a new flue and collar so that the chimney now sits straight and a long and short custom made chimneys. The fire was purchased separately to this so add the cost of chosen stove on top.

  12. This year for a short trip we did Great Haywood to Brum using the route in via Fradley, Fazeley and Farmer's Bridge. Then left via the Worcester Birmingham down through Tardebigge to Droitwich and on to the Severn up to Stourport and back to Great Haywood. This made a nice 9 day trip.

    A heatwave is predicted.
  14. Bath to Bristol is the river Avon not a canal. I think you would struggle to find many moorings in that section other than the few marinas.
  15. You could go in and out through all the routes and really explore all the BCN, last year we had a trip coming in to Brum via the Wolverhampton 21 then out via the Stratford, back in via the Grand Union and out again via the Stourbridge.
  16. According to the details on the Foxton web site it was to take a pair of narrowboats or a single wide boat. The intention was to also widen Watford locks but that never happened.
  17. Setting up Kodi on the Pi is very straight forward, have a look at https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/usage/kodi/.
  18. As the inclined plane at Foxton was introduced to enable wide boats then the summit level must be suitable for wide beams. They would only be able to navigate along the summit pound though.
  19. We went modern and bought a portable DAB radio. Same benefit of being able to listen throughout the boat with no cabling required and we can even take it outside.
  20. Remember all those old pound coins go out of circulation soon so you may as well spend them.
  21. You should check the BSS as the cracked glass may only be an advisory not a fail, at least the big crack in the back of my stove didn't fail I just had a warning label attached to the side warning not to use it.
  22. A really helpful contribution. If you don't like the Birmingham canals at least explain why. I really enjoy boating around the BCN and cover many miles of it every year. Some parts can have their difficulties but that is part of the attraction.
