  1. Tesco have Ecover washing up liquid on special offer and not only does it wash the dishes well, it is a great window cleaner, no smears. 1litre bottle for a £1. that is good value :-)
  2. There is never much on TV anyway, we have Virgin TV Anywhere App on the Ipad, so we can watch something of interest or a recorded programme if we want to have a little viewing before bedtime. oh yes and welcome to the forum, enjoy the banter and don't take to heart any insults :-)
  3. Ah that is wonderful, enjoy your new life and have a great holiday. we have lived on board nearly 3 years and would not swop it for the world, wake up every morning and think how lucky we are to be healthy and happy, oh yes and debt free :-)
  4. When we were looking for a boat, one of the items on Joe's 'must have' list was a pump out. However having found our lovely boat it didn't have a pump out, so it had to be a compromise, we are now glad that we have thetford cassettes and enjoy the 'extra storage' under the bed :-). it really is personal choice and there will always be a big debate on toilets.
  5. WE have enjoyed previous visits and looking forward to this one too. Especially the fudge boat :-)
  6. We could ask Admin to have a post on here for a list of launderettes :-) Ventnor farm marina Have a coin operated washer and dryer Billing aquadrome have a launderette and ironing facilities We have campers here and if they ask if there is a laundry nearby, I always offer to wash their laundry and let them have the use of my line :-)
  7. Ah you don't want to leave the forum, you will miss all the banter and arguing on here :-), go on be a devil and stay, you know you want to :-)
  8. This is on Twitter maybe someone on here knows the lady in question? http://bit.ly/182sE6k Hope this link works :-)
  9. Welcome to the forum, enjoy the banter and don't take to heart any insults ;-) Sweet little dog
  10. A friend of ours has a composting toilet and they add a sachet of yeast to it every now and then , they are very Eco friendly warriors and they have no trouble with smells, ( I have never used their toilet so can not vouch for that ) :-)
  11. When you figure out someone's true colours, ever notice they avoid you, because they know you know

  12. Phew I just noticed that, they must both think it is worth it. I bet the CRT are rubbing their hands too :-)
  13. Isn't that strange? this is probably the most asked question when I say we live on a narrow boat. It is funny the perception people have of life on board.
  14. This is interesting stuff, we are planning to redo the varnish through the boat and we don't want it to darken either, will bear this in mind when we come to do ours, thanks for sharing such useful tips :-)
  15. Neighbours don't you just love them, how fortunate us boating folk are that if we don't like them we can untie and moor elsewhere, take pity on the bricks and mortar folk who cant. Give your neighbour a break, there could have been a plausible reason as to why they needed to do their washing. surely the engine was not that loud? Us boating people need to stick together, bickering over an engine running seems silly. If you were going to bed then I could understand it, We have a neighbour with a very loud friend and when they sit outside you can hear her screeching voice above everyone else's, no problem to shut out the irritation just close our doors until she has gone :-)
  16. WE have a Victron Inverter and have an oral b electric toothbrush, this was one of things that I had to have when we moved on board to live also a washing machine and dryer, we don't have any probs on shoreline nor when we go out cruising, However I am not clued up on the electrics we have in the cupboard so cant give any advice , I am sure you will get some from experienced peeps on here though. my
  17. I keep saying wind as in dined and keep be corrected that is it wind as in binned ;-), now I just say ''we need to find somewhere to turn the boat around' done :-)
  18. hahahhahhaha Bizzard you are a card, from reading the first few words, I was not sure if you were joking :-) brilliant and look at all the food you will save now when unwanted guests turn up lol . if we ever meet I will drink to your health , but.... I will bring my own drink
  19. 14 days off work wooo hoooo

  20. Welcome to life afloat, it is a wonderful way of life and we do not regret it for a moment, ever, even when it is pouring of rain and miserable weather, we love it.
  21. WOAH blimey, we have gone up about 2ft here overnight, I don't know how to put a photo on this part of the forum, I use twitter and think I can add a link
  22. no it is actually a no entry sign, we are on an arm off the main river and if any boats went up beside us they would get stuck round the bends, but yes very funny.... your sense of humour seems to last from morning to night
  23. WHERE :-) Glad it is not just me who does not sleep!!
  24. This has just arrived on my Twitter page Major #flooding in #Harborough, A45 in #Northampton closed and reports of residents in several villages using sand bags. Stay safe folks. Retweeted by SC Aaron Griffiths
