  1. And there is your first boatng lesson anything with 'marine' in its name add an extra 0 to the price. Loads of generic ignition switches available for £6 - £15 quid as tracy says. But probably not with the same key you have (so what)
  2. Yes im not sure how practical a typical metal cable tray would be. Copper pipe and metal cable tray with potential damp atmosphere would be a concern for me.
  3. Section 7 says 30mm separation and sheathed cables are regarded as being in a conduit so my reading would so long as there is the required 30mm min. gap between the gas pipe and sheathed cables it would be ok
  4. I'd have put a & b the other way round. Assuming the usual 1kw immersion. Mine takes easily a couple of hours o immersion 55l surecal horizontal under the bed Cross posted with nickn.
  5. Could you point me to these regs I'd be interested in reading them for myself
  6. I'd have just used a jigsaw with fine tooth metal cutting blade
  7. If the webasto heats radiators I would think.its likely it provides hot water via the cauliflower. If not then it shouldn't be a big job to make it, assuming there is a spare coil in the cauliflower. As your new I wouldn't rush into ripping out the existing inverter until you've got a bit of experience and worked out what you need and done some research.
  8. There are often stoves from the 'cost effective' end of the market on sale via fleabay and deloved auction sites that can be a good source of parts. Might be worth a look for a donor stove.
  9. Besides the thread size you need to get the resistance value (us or euro) which you can measure with a multimeter. (Probably not in your case if its cream crackered). Generic ones are that cheap compared to genuine parts that you might as well take a punt. Based on the previous replies M10 looks worth a go. I know in the past I've used various adapters like 1/4 to 1/8 npt so probably some options there if all else fails
  10. I lived in Chester for over 10 years and knew the area reasonably well but never knew about the railway or canal... I was sorry to learn that the old ruabon (quarry) tile place is now a housing estate - good tiles those...
  11. No Wrexham is a different town south east of mold.
  12. Why wouldn't you just switch the Inverter on/off at the erm inverter.... Couldn't be arsed personally rooting around in the engine hole to use the isolator....
  13. It seems to be under his floor boards for some reason .... ???
  14. I'm slightly confused by this thread. Is the OP talking about a bss inspection ? In which case I'd say perspective buyer pays for bss and pulls out ... result! Or Is it a buyer's survey which is a different thing altogether.... if the bss had advisories why would you need to get the inspector back ? They were advisories not fails... Just seems all a bit jumbled up and something not quite ringing true to me Just saying....

  16. True but all mine were missing when I moved in ....(seals that is not fuses) I would just point out that pulling the commercial fuses is something that you do need to know what your doing at lot of energy between you and the next fuse in the substation ....
  17. Its not a criminal offence to open the cu only to add new circuits or replace it. Nothing to stop you replacing the mcb etc on a like for like basis either. Technically it's only an offence if you don't notify the local authority or use an incompetent person to certify. you can still do the work
  18. Under part p you can't change a consumer unit but you can rewire an existing circuit ergo you can legally open the cu but not add new circuits or replace the thing.
  19. At the risk of stating the bleeding obvious that Burgess pump looks like the standard coolant circulating pump. Not hard to find OEM or pattern variants for the lpws/canalstar.
  20. Does look.like they are still floating I think. Fingers crossed for them all...

  23. I understand the insurance aspect of having Rcr cover, I've had the retainer level via my insurer but each year it seemed to go up by 5 or 10 quid so I stopped taking it in 2019. I had previously considered the silver/gold levels but when I weighed up the cost against the limitations of the cover (read the small print the 'free' replacement parts cover is quite a limited list) I decided I would put the money to one side instead and would use local contractors if I couldn't sort it myself. I can't comment on RCR as despite paying for cover for 6 or 7 years I never once rang them.... (bound to have a major problem now....) There is still the option of paying them to attend which I would use as a last resort.
  24. I've got 30, 37mb and 50 mb propane regs and swap them about onto various non boat gas appliances. I also regularly swap between butane & propane. I find no perceptible difference between the different pressure regulators. In most cases it's hard to tell the difference between running something on butane or propane but i use propane if I need maximum heat output. I've also got 1 bar propane but they are for really powerful burners definitely not for boat use! It's worth remembering that mb means millibar or thousandths of a bar (about 15psi) so not much pressure difference in reality
