  1. Walking up from Summit to watch Tour De France, up to Cows Head Quarry, round the track to Byron's edge, Turvin Rd, thousands of people lining the road waiting, then it's all over in a few minutes as the breakaway group and peleton whiz by.

  2. A friend of mine hates parakeets, she prefers a parrot or a cockatoo.
  3. Heard about the constipated mathematician? He worked it out with a pencil.
  4. I had a similar problem a couple of years ago, pegged out on lock landings for a fishing match on the C&H near Mirfield. Can't recall who I emailed tho at CaRT, but i also emailed the fishing club concerned.
  5. Dawncraft have twin keels underneath so will sit on a flatbed/old caravan chassis trailer, possible with a dandy or 22 but maybe not a 27.
  6. I've stepped across the gap on narrows, I also walk across the top gate beams on wide canals to save walking round. The trick is to stay relaxed.
  7. Wasps go out when you talk to them and ask nicely. Not had chance to try it with hornets.
  8. No, he was just waving. Edit to remove multiple posts caused by impatience with smartphone
  9. At Barnaby Festival, Macclesfield with Skylight Circus Arts.

  10. Natasha Kay Rushyy and Beth Griffin are claiming to be our favourite grandchildren. What do Jess White Mea Riley and the others think?

  11. I've found some fallen wood to be drier than freshly felled wood, though the surface can be wet from rain. I stack wood next to the fire to dry, once the stove is hot, so the surface moisture dries off. Or just burn Ash. It contains little moisture even when fresh cut.
  12. Happy birthday to Natasha Kay Rushyy.

  13. on several occasions I've got from piccadilly to slattocks in a day, sharing locks with a good crew. On the other hand when BWCRT have had the chocolate teapots on duty I've found locks padlocked that should have been open etc. Getting to Rose of Lancaster is easy enough, littleborough from there in a day. I moor at eastern/northern end of summit pound, can get to stubbin wharf in a good day. Should be feasible in 4 days, the commando team could do it in 3.
  14. The old pack horse track from Bottomley to Reddyshore.

  15. They were moored and filmed near mythholmroyd/luddenden a couple of months back, my mate organised the boats from sowerby marina. Yes it was an empty shell specially fitted out in a scruffy manner.
  16. Why should it cost much? CRT should know the condition of their assets etc as part of ongoing management. Office lackey on minimum wage to photocopy or attach to an email. Are they counting the cost of doing what they should be doing anyway and attributing it to Foi?
  17. The difference? One moves.....
  18. Grand trip to Llyn Gwynant campsite, canoeing, walked up snowdon from Pen y Pass up the Pyg track and back via Miners track. Mea and Jess toasting bacon and tortillas round their campfire after the walk.

  19. there are Crane days at Shire cruisers, sowerby bridge marina, splits the cost, several boats moved in or out but afaik they have a couple a year. might be worth a call.
  20. Cure those knees, bring them out to air. Just the weather for it. Shaving optional.
  21. Some pics from my party, thanks Sonia Lukash

  22. Came across this mnemonic: Drink UP, there's RED PORT LEFT in the Bottle. "UP" referring to travelling upstream and the channel markers.
  23. hope you move the dishes first! I prefer a plastic 2 ltr milk bottle, sawn off but leaving the handle.
