  1. We have an Eco-fan on the Epping. It's very useful, lets me know when I need to put more coal in.

  3. We moored there for a while 6 years ago seems the wifi has improved since then. We couldn't even get a phone signal unless we walked to the top of the grassy bank . It was a friendly place to moor and the staff were very helpful especially Kevin and his wife ( forgot her name) , I think they have both retired now.

  5. On the right set up they do work perfectly well. Mine has to come out so so might as well have something I'm happy with.
  6. The bearing is about 8 years old now and has a bit of play in it . I have replaced the double lip seals twice in six years because of leakage., (I do about 400-600hr a year) I believe this is probably because on my set up (which doesn't have an aquadrive ) the snatchy techno drive gearbox deformed the double lip seal overtime. ( i have changed the gearbox for a PRM150D this year) Another niggle is from an insurance point of view Vetus state in the maintenance schedule that the system should be inspected every 200/once a year ashore. Mine is only out every two years. Whether insurance companies would deny a claim or not because of this I'm not sure. All my previous boats have had grease lube systems and its something I'm very familiar with, as I lift the hatch to check for drips after every cruise I might as well turn a greaser. Thankyou . Very helpful if I get quoted around the same I might afford an aquadrive fitted at the same time.
  7. I'm thinking of switching out my Vetus water lubricated stern bearing for a conventional grease system. Has anyone had this done ? What was involved.? What were the costs ? Thanks in advance for your replies.
  8. Do cruiser stern engine holes get water logged every time it rains ?
  9. Which mineral oil are you using I need to get some for my PRM 150 only fitted last year, used what I put in the engine. Ta
  10. I bought one of these last winter, used it on a hook above the epping to blow warm air down to floor level, Battery lasted about 4-5 hours. It has been put to good use during this hot spell too for a bit of cooling breeze. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Electric-Rechargeable-Operated-Portable-Stroller/dp/B07B2HC79W/ref=sr_1_6_sspa?keywords=12v+rechargable+fan+clip+on&qid=1564089129&s=kitchen&sr=1-6-spons&psc=1
  11. A family of otters swam across the front of our boat on the Thames (the narrow bit before Port Meadow) in Oxford... a couple of years ago.
  12. You could join RCR, engine mounts are covered on their replacement parts. I had a front one go and they replaced them both foc.

  14. I can count on one hand the number of boaters who have irritated me, non boaters get to me more often. I'd say 99.9% of boaters I have met are genuine friendly sorts. Almost all are happy to stop for a chat or help out a fellow boater or boat in trouble and happy to abide by the rules. As on these pages anyone with a boaty problem gets first class advise(usually) even offers to come and help out on site. It appears a few seem to find problems with fellow boaters with alarming frequency. We have been boating since the 80's, now retired on our 6th boat, CC'ing for the last 6 years and we are still enjoying every day on the water.
  15. A few years ago I watched incredulously as a permanent moorer kept sticking her head out of her side hatch and shout at hire boaters to slow down. Didn't seem to matter if they were on tickover or not. Passing private boaters were left alone although most were going faster than the hirers I
  16. The lights look the same as on my boat. Put your thumbs on the glass and fingers on the outer edge of the brass coloured plastic ring and pull down with your fingers . They are very tight and will snap back on after bulb replacement. .....and congratulations..........a smart boat.
  17. If you wear reaction lens glasses you will be blind for the first 30 secs in the tunnel.
  18. We have an Indesit which works perfectly with the engine running through a mastervolt 2500 inverter, but when attached to shore power wont work at all.
