  1. In 2009 we paid 46,000 for a new East West from Whilton, they still achieve 42,000 to 46,000
  2. Have to say, never did Harecastle but did not have any issues in other tunnels or bridge holes with our east west.
  3. I owned one for three years and never had issue with it. It was our first boat and we were very happy with the fit out. The paint was not the best, that was the one thing that seems to let them down although most have probably had some paint work done on them by now. Never had an issue with the internal wood work, the bamboo was bullet proof and very hard wearing. Importantly, they still achieve near to their original price upon resale so all the naysayers out there were wrong with their initial negative comments on value and expected future value.
  4. You could install Firefox or Opera as alternative browsers - they may work and allow you to access most websites whilst you decide what to do next ...
  5. If you decide to poke some grease in, could you not use a mega large jubilee clip or similar to keep the hole covered until you get the chance to repair properly in dry dock - just thinking about keeping the hole clean and stopping any unwanted grit or dirt.
  6. The basic setup interests me for my pool out here in France - using a small PV panel to run the pump to circulate from the pool > round the hot water solar > back to the pool. If it gives me a few degrees extra then its worth having a go !
  7. Drain back systems solve the issue (but are not as simple) >> https://solar-water-panel.com/blogs/news/whats-a-drain-back-system
  8. What an ignorant man .... very lucky he didn't end up in the water.

  14. I agree with the majority that wide beams should not be on these stretches but I wonder what CRT can actually do having issued licences to these vessels for navigation ? I guess they will have to identify and list all canals not suitable for wide beams and then refuse licenses on that basis and deal with any offenders.

  16. We bought an Airlink October 2018 - cost us 550 GBP BT3240 - 3600va 230v to 230v Isolating transformer Mains lead with 16amp plug Outlet:16amp Socket with MCB protection Easy to plug in / use and gives us peace of mind.
  17. I love the door handle I could hear people discussing it as we went down the cut ..... the boats are all two packed so there should not be any significant erosion excepting damage or lack of on-going maintenance.
  18. I owned an East West and it was a great boat with UK sourced equipment. Nothing bad about them and in fact they have held their value and in some cases go for more than they were when new (in spite of what everyone on here said at the time)

  21. The correct type of toilet paper is also very important - thin single/double ply cheap stuff that disintegrates in a glass of water ... not your fancy triple ply luxury stuff !
  22. The cheapest option is to brave it out ... the neighbours will soon close their curtains saving you a fortune - enjoy your boat !
  23. We moored there for three years starting 2010 - it was always hit and miss getting hold of someone. Invoicing for the marina fees was also very random and we often went months owing money.
  24. We experienced a similar issue a few weeks back whilst out on a little trip with our ZWC1301 and a Victron Multiplus. I had read somewhere about running something that would have a reasonable power draw at the same time. Switched on our electric kettle and the machine started its cycle - just needed to switch the kettle on again at the end for the final spin
