Tundish

Is it:-

Wotevers - Large dish containing four hogs heads

Tumshies - Funnel or U bend.

MTB's - Not a bog potato at all.

Answers on a postcard please.

A brief search of your photo suggests you are not a tumshie bogle at all, but a fearsome GROUND GOBLIN, noted for catching and eating cats, dogs and other small domestic hanimals. ARGHHHH!!!

GROUND GOBLIN

I am too.

That's the English translation.

But it's still not a funnel or a stinky U-bend. :P

Are you related to the Hobgoblins that live in the Wychwood?

I have cousins in them parts so that could be them.

I don't remember trying the beer though.;)

Are knockers not Cornish?

I thought Wychwood was Oxfordshire?

Am I being a bit dozy again?

Its says on the spiderwick website that "Goblins and Hobgoblins are related to Knockers.",and that Knockers live in mines.

Wychwood is in Oxfordshire, where they brew hobgoblin (Witney). We went near there in the boat once, but didn't know about the brewery at the time.

There are lots of old tin mines in Cornwall, perhaps they are tin knockers.

I haven't been on the Spiderwick website - I just found it searching for pictures. :D

Wychwood hobgoblin beer I do know from my travels round Oxfordshire.

I have been to Cornwall but I didn't meet any mine knockers so I didn't make the connection.

P.S don't tell my cousins I called them hobgoblins. :giggles:

That's it!

And "Tumsh" is a misspelled contraction of tundish I reckon, and not a bog potato at all!

A tumshie is nothing to do with potatoes! It is a turnip

haggis

Did you miss the post where I said Tumshie Bogles were a rare and precious thing - we'll have none of this common nonsense.  :P

I recall that bit, but also recall  the other bit:-

Noted for catching and eating cats, dogs and other small domestic animals. ARGHHHH!!!
