Coles Moreton/boat history??

Hi there,

 

I've recently bought my first boat and its a coles moreton (so i believe...)

Is there any way I can find out its history or what characteristics Coles Moreton boats have?

It was built in 1981

Internet search just leads me to the 2 threads a few years back on here but was wandering if anyone else had any suggestions as I'd really

appreciate it

Coles Morton built boats at Whaley Bridge in the late 1970's, I visited them a couple of times when i lived in Buxton, but  I know nothing about the qualities or Characteristics of their boats. I believe that Boat cabin (Laurence Hogg) supplied some of the fittings.

Good solid  boats, very ordinary appearance, reliable Bukh 2 or 3 cylinder engines fitted originally. Plenty still about , some went into hire fleet service.

We hired Pennine Wanderer from Coles Morton Marine at Wigan in 1981. A very nice boat as I recall even if it did breakdown more than any other boat we've ever had.

Where about are you moored, whats the name, index number? I used to work for them from when they started till 1979.

Not that I can help in anyway, but those that can possibly help further than above would need more details as suggested.

Hopefully it may shed some light on it...boat index is: 77068, diditagen is boat name buti think previous owner changed it to that?

Billh- yes it is run of the mill looking haha

but no bikh 2 engine anymore tho I hear they were really reliable?

Pearly -haha don't tell me that! ...How do people tell if it is ex hire fleet tho if the name has changed through the years??

Bit difficult to tell from that picture, have you got one from the bow?, according to Boat Safety it's a Colecraft.

Only got this one (at survey) but could take one next w/o end if needed?

Funny you say that as on my survey it says colecraft but contacted them and they said no it isn't??

Yet on searching on index it says Coles Moreton?
