Rickent
Installed Boatman stove today, just lit it for the first time. I can only keep a low heat at the moment to give the fire cement time to cure but it feels great.

GreyLady
I hope your stove stays in, if it does your doggy might need some colder water in the morning. Have a cosy night. :-)

bizzard
The front barrier bars that stop coals falling out on the Boatman is probably only 2 bars high, they were on mine, 3 bars high is better than 2 bars to build the fire up more for the overnight tickover and to stop coals falling out. These bars are exactly the same as the grate, just cut off from a length of it. Those grate firebars can be bought in a length to be cut off as required. Standard 10'' wide (I think they are) and can be bought quite cheaply from stove shops. Cast iron cuts very easily with a hacksaw. Thys is whot I didid. Rickent
Didn't put too much coal on last night as the dog had a funny turn and wasn't sure if it was the heat. Did close the air vent and at 5.30 this morning although almost dead there was still some glowing ash , so I think if I had put more coal on , it would have stayed in. We will see tonight. Rickent
Yes , she is fine thanks. Labs are prone to fits and this is the second one we have had that has them occasionally, she had a little one last night but was soon her old self.
