No, breaking a byelaw is a criminal offence but it doesn't automatically lead to a criminal record.

Not so, when I bought my boat and transferred the licence I didn't have the actual tickets to display as the previous owner never displayed them and had lost them. No worries as I knew it had was licensed.

 

I called CRT to ask for copies to be sent, but was told not to bother as they would be phased out soon enough.
